I'm deffo up for a few hours of scrubbing and/or spannering on the poor wee thing. At the least I could clean out the drums and pull the carpets out, maybe attack the paint a bit depending on the weather?

There is a forum for them which was great last time I was on it a couple of years ago.

Would be a good car to bring to Shitefest @ Chinnor - everyone does a bit.  Group effort for the day, or until booze sets in.  Would be happy to bring toolage/fillerage etc...

Well.

I'm going to see if I can get it drier and try and get the mould of the seats.

I have a vax, do we think that'll be the thing to use on the seats?

Then see if I can get the dehumidifier in there somehow?

I have un-bunged the plugholes in the boot and under the drivers feet.

If I do raffle it, I'll start a thread with the numbers already on here? Is that OK or do we need to start afresh if/when its all official?

You would need something that kills off the mold. I used this ;- http://www.shopnshine.co.uk/valet-pro-enzyme-odour-eater-500ml?gclid=CKLz4eHslMoCFVQaGwod7RcGbg

I'm defo going to clean it out to some kind of level, prob not to vulgalour standards, but at the moment I think it may even be a hazard to respiratory systems.

It's fallen on a day shift week, but I will see what I can squeeze in and fingers crossed for dry weather to continue.

Matt seems OK with the idea of moving it on, and I think it does need to switch to more of a hobby car than a daily driver.

That's a kind offer Mr Duke, if I get stuck with the carpets I might have to take you up on it if that's OK?

I'd love to rehome it, I need to atone for what I did to my shit brown Astra Coupe all those years ago.  Ow much missus?

I can't do anything with it until I've cleaned the seats at least.

Matt's getting "better the devil you know" cold feet but has suggested looking around the local car dealers on Friday. I have told him I really want him to drive a less leaky car, I think it would be better for him and better for the car!

If I was selling I'd put it on eBay for £400, with a view to haggling, I think, to see what happens, but the interest in the raffle is promising. I need to find a way of cleaning the inside, hopefully I can do it Fri.

I'm still thinking about getting the carpet up, will that put people off?

Just been to the mk1oc website, annoyingly a full beige brown interior was up for sale in Oct.

Sorry to be leaving you all hanging.

You've got to do whatever you think is best Louise, but tbh I'd avoid ebay and the mongs that it will doubtless attract from the internet woodwork.

Flog on a forum, where there are people who won't bugger you about, or better still sell it to Ruffgeezer, then at least it stays within AS.

Or roffle.

In all fairness i would clean the seats and leave the carpet. Mayby wet vac it if you have one to dry it out a bit. That way when the next owner takes it out they know how to put it back in if you know what i mean. Prob a job best left to warmer* weather.

I would have 4 tickets.

Also,I think a few peeps inc me would come and give it a going over. Defo game, will bring wet vac and all tools!!

Surely there's a shitter out there with a water tight car who'd like to swap it for a leaky brown Astra?

Posted

By the looks of things, it would make a great P/X for a 405 GTX Estate.....

A late Skoda Favorit might also be a suitable replacement... ;)

Guys I'm putting this up for sale, I'm a bit nervous of the raffle thing to be honest, I am a born worrier and not sure how legal it is?

The brakes are sticking still and the rest of what you need to know is in the photos above, plus I have also remembered the radiator fan switch doesn't work (I just bridge it in hot weather) and the drivers side door doesn't lock. Also don't know if I ever mentioned the radio is there but no connected, no idea if it works.

Its got MOT until Feb 19th.

Looking for £350.

The roffle is nice and legal:)

good luck with the sale!

if you do raffle, I'll have the mumbers I posted earlier in the thread, ta:)

I wouldn't write off a raffle. You're not breaking any laws just remember to ask for people to not mention raffle when they make a payment via PayPal otherwise they'll want their commission. I've not done a raffle myself but it appears to go smoothly just remember to price the tickets temptingly and maybe give a better price the more tickets are sold to each shiter. If all goes well you could have the money in your bank account within a week or so.

We are all old hands at roffles.

We send money via PayPal as Gift so you incur no fees and include our forum name but make no mention of roffles or suchlike. When all the numbers are taken, you have what you wanted for the car then winner turns up and collects & fills out paperwork. Nice and straightforward.

I'll take a trio of numbers if you do decide to go ahead with a roffle

Indeed, we can all help out setting up the raffle. I can see no reason why it's not legal (but don't tell Pay-pal, they don't like it) and we all know what we're letting ourselves in for. Obvs. if it's easier for you, or you prefer to, then an outright sale should work anyhow.

I will have 3 numbers in a raffle if it is set up. I will watch this space.

I will have three numbers if it raffles, if not hope you have no bother selling it.

If.... Mot is up in feb19th I think I'd go the raffle route, with the timescale you could have a week or two to get 59 takers and then they've got a week or two to get it collected more legally

Put me down for a couple of numbers on principle.  I'll probs give it away if they come in.
