The very last Favorit runout model...[there were several including Flairline, Blackline ect...] was the CD but I can't currently find a pic of one on the internet. I'm sure to have a brochure somewhere though.

Dacia Nova is not a Pug 309. PSA was trying to do a deal with Dacia, so provided some technical assistance at the time. If anything, it owes more to the 205, but the Nova was genuinely designed by Dacia - it's the only truly Romaninan designed car the company ever built. I've driven one too - (a SupeRNova with Renault engine) and it was bloody awful!

There was the Ovlov 240 Torslanda estate, uber poverty spec & 2 litre engine, and seemed to be mostly in white

Torslanda was a 'cold weather' car - basic and the only extra was heated seats. I see them mostly in silver with black side stripes below the doors; and with lattice alloy wheels.

There was also a 'limited edition' 240 as well. I don't know if this was also a run-out model...

No, built for 50 years of Volvo. The 244 was new for '75 in any case.

A few more...

The first one is already in the million dollar garage, and I'd gladly add the others. And a Dolly SE.

The Volvo 940 "Celebration" 2.3 LPT estate, a car which is my ultimate RWD Volvo:

1971597.jpg

:D

The old Volvo run-out models were known as Celebration models (940, 480 etc.) The last 480 Celebration was for sale recently: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C263084

Others, such as the 240; 340; 440 etc were known as 'Limited Edition' or simply as 'LE'. Later V70s and S40/V40 run-out editions were known as 'Classic'.

Newer Volvo run outs are, as far as I know, not designated. Apparently, Ford didn't care...

How wrong do those plastic bumpers look?

The Sierra did indeed had Azura and Chasseur editions as special run-outs. Barring the lethargic 1.6i unit most had, they were reasonably specced. Most Chasseur's were estates if memory serves me. One of these models didn't have the centre armrest up front though - which was standard on all but base models. I can’t remember which model it was that didn't.

Indeed, many people out there aren't aware that many very late petrol Sierras (very late '92 - early '93) were indeed fuel-injected.

Yes there was. Although Ford knew that the Escort was on borrowed time I guess, hence the Finesse model.

I’m sure ‘mk5Escort’ can confirm this. :)

Thanks for thinking of me...! :D

There isn't much to add about the run out Escorts that hasn’t already been discussed. After the launch of the Focus, the range was cut right down to Flight and Finesse models after what they already had left had sold (there are various 'S' plates out there which are LX’s, GTi’s and Ghia X’s (with leather and ‘leccy everything) e.t.c. The three door hatchback and saloon were discontinued altogether although a few did make it onto 'S' plates also.

The Flight was the basic one with wheeltrims. Early ones didn't have rev-counters either. However, all Finesse models come with alloys and a rev counter. Strange that your friend’s example didn’t have a rev counter though. :? I can't explain that.

There were many Escorts sold on 'Y' plates. There were two just around the corner from where I used to live. Here’s one example on eBay. I'm sure there was a tiny handful that made it onto a '51' plate also (I know I've seen one), but we're talking single figures with that... The vans did indeed last longer and there were plenty out there on 51, 02 and 52 plates before the launch of the Transit Connect.

There's probably a funny story to tell with regards to the 'Ford Motor Co.' stickers which were supposed to go onto the final examples as a celebration. Note you'll find them fitted to models made in around 1999, but the 'true' last of the line cars didn't have them. The Y plate one linked is an example!

I know they made the passenger version alongside the Focus for a few years, but God knows why anyone would have bought one over a Focus

Where would you like me to start...?

^ That Y reg one should be in the bargains thread. 2 freakin grand for an 11 year old Escort.

I've got a pic of a red one with black stripes, and a white one with black stripes. Still looking for a 240 'Highlander' tho', which I believe was a run-out model.

Cavalier Classic.

Pre-historic engine, ABS, twin Airbags, Electric Windows, Central Locking and no rev counter.

Said to be last of line, but various Cavaliers exist on P-Plates (LS, CDX, SRi).

The final run of escorts weren't all fixed spec I think. I know the finesse was meant to be higher than the flight but when I met the wife she had a x plate finesse. Had alloys, air con rev counter and ford r,c,l on the key but only had two speakers and bog standard tape deck. All other late finesse models I have seen had cd player but no rcl?!

The Reliant Robin 65 is a good example, certainly by Reliant standards anyway :D

made in 2001,marked the end of 65 years of manufacturing, and also only 65 were made.

All were mettalic gold, with red and grey leather seats, red carpet, minilites, walnut dash etc etc etc.

all for only £10,000... they did actually sell out pretty fast, and are still expensive today:

I think they should have had electric windows same as the bn2. Did they also have the dodgy Indian gearbox too? I'll stick with my h plate. 32k on clock now an done 5k in nearly three months an never let me down

all the mk3 robins had recon engines,a little known fact, hence a lot of the reliabilty problems,as not one of the engines was actually new,due to reliant not paying the people who cast the blocks and heads, the casting company smashed the tooling up in front of the very difficult to deal with MD,so Reliant had to use recon engines.

No difference body except shape or engine wise or interior really between mine and a new one so no point gettin rid then!

Didn't know that. Extremely sad that they felt they had to destroy the tooling to make a point.

Also I've always thought it sad that Reliant could never get it together to make a GRP mini-rival economic.

Do the Renault 5 and Clio Campus models count for this thread? The last generation model but with all the frills taken out.

Spotted this in a local car park. The Polo Coupe "Parade".

Guessing it was some kind of run-out special by the H-registration...

RE: the rear pillar stickers on the Escorts - my old work had a Finesse bought new in October 98 on an S plate WITH the sticker, but the W reg finesse TD I had a couple of years ago didn't have them. Odd.

I had always thought Ford kept the escort going that extra couple of years following the Focus launch fearing a cortina to sierra style backlash since the Focus was SO different.

The Sierra Azura was strangely specced - alloys, colour coded bumpers and spoiler - but keep fit windows and no rev counter.
