scooters Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 First episode of Romanzo Criminale..an.otherwise top notch chod extravaganza.... The gang use a late model 240 estate to nick some typewriters
Station Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 In the MR2 episode of Wheeler Dealers, Mike Brewer finds a mint front wing in a scrap yard, which looks brand new with no corrosion and is freshly painted:He also tries to haggle the price down by 50%.
morris_ital_lover Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 ....The program was narrated by Sean Bean, and considering all teh time he spent in The South Essex Regiment under an assumed name, you'd think he'd have put them right MEH, He'd be useless, he doesn't even know what colour the boathouse is at Hereford. As for Northern Ireland documentaries it seems to be totally acceptable to show footage of Tangis and try and claim its footage of 1970s riots or to show clips of the game "Arma2" and try and claim its footage of the IRA shooting down a british army helicopter. Anybody see the "Endeavor" malarky on tonight.... I'm sure there's some beautiful cock ups in there, I have to say I gave up before then end as it all got a bit.... shit. I did notice the excessive proliferation of MK2 jags in it as well as Zodiacs without a single Cowley product in sight.
ashmicro Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Saw endeavour, though it wasn't bad. Considering it was supposed to be Oxford, the absence of BMC tin was, as you say, baffling. Pikey mark 1 Transit at the end, though.
chaseracer Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 ...Sean Bean...MEH, He'd be useless, he doesn't even know what colour the boathouse is at Hereford. ..."Endeavor" malarky... without a single Cowley product in sight...Apart from at least one Morris Minor...
AnthonyG Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Saw endeavour, though it wasn't bad. Considering it was supposed to be Oxford, the absence of BMC tin was, as you say, baffling. Pikey mark 1 Transit at the end, though. I thought one of the senior coppers said 'GMC' instead of 'BMC' when talking about where someone's dad worked. Could just be my hearing though. Also I doubt a dodgy back street garage would be selling a brand new (C reg) Jaguar Mk2, although its possible.
AnthonyG Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 In 'Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit', which is set in the 60's, some youths are hooning around in a scruffy FD Ventora with a primered wing... In that series about a 1970s kid in the West Midlands, with Amanda Holden and Noddy Holder as teachers, one of the people on the 'estate' had a Allegro with a different coloured wing, even given BL's variable build quality at that point its doubtful in what would have been a year old car (the music firmly put it in 73/74 territory). IIRC Nigel Planer played a lazy dad who worked at 'Leyland' who was eternally on strike. Nobody seems to remember that when you were on strike, you didn't get paid , so he wouldn't be able to spend 1974 at the bookies (unless he was very successful at it, of course )
retrogeezer Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 The Grimleys!! What a great programme that was. Brian Conley as Doug 'Dynamo' Digby!
dollywobbler Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 The new series of Endeavour. A bloody good show actually, apart from the fact that the very opening scene of this brand new series shows a split-screen Morris Minor with the 'Morris' combined sidelight/indicator unit only fitted to the 1098cc Minors. Disgraceful. More seriously, there was some nice ol' shite in it, including a Triumph 1300 and a couple of nice old buses.
quicksilver Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I thought one of the senior coppers said 'GMC' instead of 'BMC' when talking about where someone's dad worked. Could just be my hearing though.Yeah, I thought I heard GMC too and my dad agrees. Bit of a boo-boo if so.
M'coli Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 ^^^ The producers probably had one eye on selling the show to the US, in which case it's lazy - it wouldn't have taken much to get it right in the first place and then over-dub it with GMC for the US.
richardthestag Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 quadrophenia Straw dogsnot so much of a cock up but it might get your cock up
Captain Mainwaring Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Just about every film set in 1980s Britain features a car fitted with the 'new style font' numberplates.
quicksilver Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Current viewing has caused this OMG THRED RESURECTION. Watching the first episode of Doc Martin and he's just driven his Lexus LS400 into a bog at about 20mph. The car came to a stop without damage but the airbag went off, he then pushed the airbag out of the way and got out and neither himself nor the car had even a scratch. Why oh why did the airbag deploy?
Father Ted Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Lexus LS400 ..... Why oh why did the airbag deploy? Obviously didnt get re-called like all the others
kinkersaab Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Anyone see the weak show that is "Royal bodygaurd" with David jason? Last week he was looking under a brand new Citroen C6 with a mirror thing looking for a bomb, and the camera shots looked more like a 10 yr old fiesta... annoyed muchness.
retrogeezer Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I watched the first episode of that and had to force myself to see it through to the end.....I'm surprised David Jason signed on the dotted line for it as it is dire.
gadgetgricey Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Amazed that no-one has mentioned the classic cock up in Diamonds are Forever. The chase scene in Las Vegas. Bond gets the car on two wheels to drive through a narrow alley, but manages to flip the car midway through to come out the other end on the opposite two wheels. - Dave -
STUNO Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 On TV as I write...a sitcom of some sort . Huge crash of thunder followed a moment later by a lightning flash. Several times. Now the electric is off and their candle is lightng the whole interior of the house.
RoadworkUK Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 In a similar vein to the above; how come every club / pub in every film is quiet enough for the lead characters to have a deep and meaningful conversation in?
Jon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Up to page 8 and no reference to the Eldorado incident (courtesy of IMCDB): A610..... ....becomes shonky TR7.
eddyramrod Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Nobody ever watched Eldorado, that's why!* *Except you and Terry Wogan
Father Ted Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 ^^^^They did something similar in the Italian Job didnt they with the Ferrari that went over the cliff - changed into som Alfa mocked up as a Ferrari IIRC EDIt Lambo not Ferrari. I are an arse
eddyramrod Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Or Lancia mocked up as Aston Martin, but yeah, that is right, more or less. They do it all the time thinking we won't notice. One of Elvis's movies - Spinout, I think - has Shelley Fabares driving her brand new Ferrari into a river. Except when she gets there, it's a TR4.
morris_ital_lover Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 ...in fairness they did actually push the Aston over the cliff it just went down in a fireball which isn't what they wanted so they had to mock up the Lancia. Bizarrely it seems the Aston has survived along with the red e-type.
mk2_craig Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Producers sometimes use scale models for scenes of destruction, but I'm not very good at spotting them. Apparently later Dukes of Hazzard episodes employed this trick due to the supply of Dodge Chargers starting to dry up by the mid 1980s. The VW camper blown up in Back to the Future looked suspiciously like it might have been a mock-up in that scene, and the Bristol VR bus jumping Tower Bridge in Spiceworld was blatant
Father Ted Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Anyone spot this eror in this weeks episode of Hustle?+
quicksilver Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Anyone spot this eror in this weeks episode of Hustle?Yep, I was going to mention it but then I forgot. The odd thing is the POLICE lettering must actually be the right way round on the Astra - normally it's reversed so it would be the right way round in the reversed image if you get what I mean. I remember a bigger cockup in an earlier series: the minibus they got into was a Merc Vito but by the time it arrived at the destination it had somehow turned into a VW Caravelle! How they pulled off that particular trick was never explained...
morris_ital_lover Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 ...they are hustlers afterall. One thing I've noticed in general with the appearance of police cars on film and tv is that all sound like they've got the sirens out of the 90s as opposed to the superannoying new ones.
trigger Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 and the Bristol VR bus jumping Tower Bridge in Spiceworld was blatant You've watched Spiceworld?!
