Autoshite Pool Cars

Recommended Posts

Following on from the bright idea mooted by Scooters... here is a thread designed to cover all those cheap old cars that get passed around from one Shiter to another, such as Gadgetgricey's Saab, Cavette's Cavalier, and I'm sure many others. So if you have a pool car, jump in! Update us on the health of the car, and especially, let us know when the time comes to move it along.

Hardly the school bike, but Colc briefly had this before me:

I've replaced the odd bulb and bit of trim, changed the rear dampers, and generally treated it half as a daily driver and half as a classic. Won't be getting rid of it any time soon, so I'm looking at renewing the exhaust once December's out of the way :)

This may as well join in, as I reckon it'll stay in the fold once I pass it on.

What happened to the Bollox Ital? It was mentioned as an AS school bike when he was doing the welding on it.

I now have Angry Dicky's Maestro, hopefully I'll be keeping it a while though so it won't need to become a 'pool car'... Obviously it would be nice to keep track of it if and when I do part with it though.

In addition to the Saab which is up for sale on the other thread, ex forum member cars I have had are the DAF which is ex Scooters and probably someone else on heres (I think it went though a few hands in the couple of years before I got hold of it):

And I also have LankyTims Audi:

Not so much bikes that everyone has ridden like the Saab but ex Autoshite cars all the same.

To add to its slagginess, Mk14Dr also had a drive in the Saab when M'Coli was selling it. Was not a relationship though, he just had a quick go and hopped off to hold a long term relationship with his Prelude. Probably carrying a bout of something.

Did some student from Middlesbrough buy it? Was somewhere up that way IIRC.

I own 3 cars bought from other members, plus one sourced by a member

1992 Rover 216-From TimL

1989 Fiesta- the esteemed Granny_Bol motor

1989 Shogun V6- Ex Scooters and just through another MOT, though it will be up for sale in the near future.

1996 Shitetrak- Ex Scooters also recently through it's MOT.

I will add pics tonight when I get home to my own computer

This was baldrickthecunning's, now it's mine.

Which flavour is that one then, petrol/diesel? Don't recall it!

OK, here's a recent (spectacularly badly framed) shot of the ex HillmanImp Scirocco.

Bought last year to run over the winter, I love it & won't be selling it for a long time.

I've done a fair bit to it & I think that it now has just one niggling fault outstanding which I will sort almost immediately.

It's wearing a different set of wheels in this picture because that's what my winter tyres are on.

I was a few hours away from buying Alex G's Accord when it conked out

Im fairly certain ive got nearly a complete exhaust for a twin cam, you could have it if you want to collect it but as your quite away from birmingham i dont suppose its a viable proposition.

Not that I should rise to the bait of an obvious troll, but it would be interesting to know on what this accusation is based? Of 55+ cars I have owned, 4 or 5 have been modified by me, and all have gone on to the next owner in decent working order.

I bought a slammed diesel Maestro from RR a while back. First thing I did was to UN-SLAM it using new springs from a Montego. Very satisfying!

Thanks for the very kind offer, unfortunately it's not the distance to Brum, it's the stretch of water in between!

Still waiting for an answer.

Aye. Have been trawling through the archives regarding the Pug. Hadn't realised it previously belonged to Retro80sboy! That makes it worthy of this thread for sure.

Road trip to collect the 309 from Rob involved a trip in Pete M's rather tasty Jag so the Peugeot is truly an AS slag!

BolCav still here.

Right, so you have posted a picture of a rough looking Lada Riva, then underneath you have posted a picture of a rough looking Lada Riva with moon discs.

Yes, so it was lowered, but that does not in itself ruin a car.

I'll add a bit more to the story...

Due to the car being a bit rough and rotten in the usual places, I decided to try to sort it properly.

I also want to explain that the lowering that was done was to make it handle better - as my time at Prescott showed.

Ok, so I may have lost my way a little in the process, but that Lada has had more love and money lavished upon it that most cars on this forum.

I replaced almost everything on the car that was faulty and improved its performance and handling. Ruined? Shagged? Ready for scrap? Nope.

The car is still alive and well, albeit in the hand of a more extreme modifier, but mechanically and structurally it is one of the best around. If anyone were to own it they would simply need to add standard springs and it would be a perfect Lada.

So don't start spouting crap until you know all the facts.

If you can't be tolerant of all tastes, I suggest you piss off to Practical Classics and polish your imperial nuts with all the other purists.
