I remember the Jesus Army (of all people!) had a Metropolitan at one point. That must have been late 90s in Birmingham and is probably the only time I've ever seen one in the metal.

G&G of Leamington Spa used to use them into the early 90s on a route to Coventry. I might have skipped off studies to bash them once or twice!

At least the Black Prince name lives on now, thanks to Brad McMullen & David Crowther, as Brad's superb looking Merc 0405 Optare Prisma is now preserved, and surprisingly 2 out of the trio of MAN Optare Vectas survive, and are to be restored to their original liveries, one of which I suspect Rapunzel of this parish has driven

V3 needs repatriating and putting back into its proper livery too. I saw it last year at a show and it's in a sorry state. The only Alexander/East Lancs/Black Prince bodied Ailsa! I've still got the last day of service board from it when it came into the depot for the last time.

Shame, V1 was out to play in Morley, in it's fresh LT livery, but I doubt V3 will end up back up north, V3's body is actually still fairly twisted if you look carefully too, and needs tens of thousands more chucking at it to be right.

Who's got V1 now? I know V3 will never be right but still, it should go back into BP colours in tribute to the (was it about 12 year?) comprehensive rebuild it had while up there as a result of a roll over accident. (yes folks, a double deck bus can roll over. London transport staff managed it, anyway)

My mate with the Ailsa fetish in the midlands, it's now immaculately restored to near original guise, and is still Voith'd. It's had a hell of a lot of work done recently including new roof panels, several bits of bodywork, flooring sections, wiring, gearbox work, engine work. V1 didn't really get a livery at BP, just red with a yellow waistband, and an all over advert, V2 did, that survives somewhere down south still in BP yellow and red, but I believe it's more or less derelict.

Thread bump. Also whilst in Yorkshire I met up with a mate who has a small fleet, plus visited Dewsbury Bus Museum. I got to play with my mate's Leyland Leopard, which is a real beast. Goes like stink, and it's even had its fuel pump cut back. It has a 680 power plus lump in. Also drove his Mrs' Iveco Daily Robin Hood Loaf tin  The green Mk2 National used to be in my care, and is XUA73X, which is now almost completely restored, just a few bits of electrics and trim to sort. More photos to come once I get time to edit them.

This thread popping back up reminded me that I spotted something sat in a nearby farmyard recently.  A mate works on the estate there and confirmed that the Lady of the house did like to buy things at auction and a look online confirmed it was that auction.

 

 

God knows what shes going to do with it but it will be nice to see it pottering about.

Nice to see that CityPacer preserved as it owes its survival to an operator near me who bought it from a scrapyard for spares but it proved good enough to put into service. I visited the Buses Festival at Gaydon yesterday so stand by for some bus porn once I've sorted though the hundreds of photos I took.

That might actually be the other CityPacer that now belongs to my mate. That was dragged from a scrappies near Ipswich a few years back and is rough, but a runner. The Magic Rider example is a non runner, and has had little done to it for a while

A bloody Guy Wulfrunian, one of 2 survivors from the once mahoosive West Riding fleet, this one new to County Motors of Lepton near Huddersfield, t'other is in Dewsbury bus museum being slowly restored. An ex Caldaire Mk2 Airfix kit/Stynx, and my mate's wife's Optare CityPacer VW LT55, which the exhaust fell off of on Saturday. Oops. if anyone knows of bits for one of these going spare, such as a back bumper and front windscreen, let me know.

2 of the 4 MAN Vectas survive, 73 and 75 IIRC; we ran 75 for some time as M10 DVS (think we were only the third owner) and it is gave us virtually no hassle in all the time we had it.

 

Two lads came up from Yorkshire two or three times, perved all over it (and under it), we spent a bomb putting it through MOT for an agreed price and they then offered us a third of what was agreed so it very nearly went for scrap. We sold it on to an operator in the North East who passed it on to the lads who own it now.

to those who posted eyms buses and khct buses, thank you. my home town and growing up in the 90s i remember vr's and atlanteans being everywhere, aswell as mcw's and later the ollies. one day i will own an atlantean, in hull corp livery.

Not arf, the Wulfrunian was an absolute crock, and yes I've experienced the only roadworthy survivor first hand. Seriously over complex, and needed power steering, but that would have further complicated matters.

Yup, driven it too. Took it from its home to the BCM a number of years ago. No room in cab, angled steering column, heavy steering, gearbox that operates its brake bands backwards so it induces slip the more power you put through it, crap cooling system, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
