Shite Pickups

It would be interesting to find out if exporting a car from Iran is possible. Once you get it out of the country, you should be able to import it almost anywhere, I would imagine. Just a thought.

Sure... but you need to provide a translated from Farsi documentation to DVLA, and I wonder if they would accept that, well hang on a minute, how does it work for importing cars from Italy, Germany,... do people have to translate them for DVLA?

Hmm, not much in it, is there? Could be either. Avenger would make sense on a parts-sharing basis.

And, er, no idea, I've never shipped a car internationally.

I am not 100% convinced that it was the Avenger, I think the Housing could be the same, but they changed the lens perhaps. SO far I haven't seen a clear evidence of where these Paykan Face-Lift headlights came from, they could have been unique also, remember that Chrysler/Rootes were loving Iran by that time for keeping the Production going! ;)

But I guess we need to stop this Paykan shite now, cause this is Shite Pickups Thread! ;)

International trading probably deserves its own thread, actually, so if you find out about exporting perhaps you'd open one? Meanwhile...

Because he had a workshop, a welder and a rusty coupe?

Get me a pickup and I'll find a way to get DVLA to recognise it's existence...trust me

Alrighty then! I say UK could use plenty of PAYKAN Pick-Ups these days! Lets do it!..... Its about time you experience the pain and suffering of living with Paykans for 40+ years!!! :P

I bet with a dead Hillman Hunter, you could convert it to right hand drive too

Posted

Oh Yes you can! The Dash has flat spots on both side, so that is not an issue, most likely you need a new steering Box.

This guy has done it Australia, that is a proper Paykan Pick up down under!

You'll get no argument from me on that one! I'll take it exactly as shown please, that's perfect.

Anyone know where that was shot? Looks awfully like Carmel, CA.

Is the cab on backwards, or is the bed at the front with the engine behind?

40 years of Paykan is no different to 40 years of Cortina....and I am still driving them 8)

Now how do we go about getting a Paykan out of Iran?? and can we come back via Turkey so I can collect an Ottsan one up as well??

Someone really should try and import one of those Pie-can pick-up things. What are the chances of a new one being anywhere even close to our emission laws though?

I'm sure someone could fit a Ford Zetec, or Mazda lump in there from an MX5...Might need better brakes & suspension though.

Not really shite but my boss is in Australia just now and just sent me this picture.

I thought I would take you from the sublime (I love this so much I thought it should be shown again):

to the ridiculous:

It is a 1972 Silver Shadow Dual Cab 4x4 ute based on a 1976 Dodge chassis.

This is a spy-shot, this hasn't hit the market yet, and I don't have any further information on this, except to say that this is the Pick-Up version of the Peugeot 405 (ROA), with the Paykan powertrain. (Hillman Avenger 1600cc Fuel Injected engine).

I'm after a small pickup myself but all that's available is either too big, too expensive or utterly munted junk! (Want an old short-bed F100 or Chevy LUV V8 but couldn't afford the petrol - or the purchase price come to that).

Whats the first one? Is it a VW/Skoda Caddy?

Posted

That first pickup looks like a Kia 'Gay' Pride to me. And is that 405 front or rear wheel drive?
