406 advice

95 quid Peugeot

Recommended Posts

Since the demise of my fav 406, i've still been hankering after another.

Theres this one on gumtree with suspected pump problems, its a new one on me as everything else similar ive had has had bullet proof mechanics

Yeah often when a fuel pump goes, its subsequent internal destruction of its internal parts often is spread across the rest of the fuel system and ruining it all. Not worth it tbh. Could just be a failure of the part due to internal manufacturing defect, or even previously put the wrong fuel in, etc.

If  its a 90hp then injectors are non coded and cheap as chips secondhand , as are pumps .If it were mine id get secondhand pump , injectors and pipes as well as the filter housing . Put a new filter in it as well as put a cheap inline one in before the main filter . You may need to change this a few times as it filters out any swarf thats made its way back to the tank via the leak offs. Or remove the tank and clean / blow through the pipes etc.

I reckon a £100 quid and you could get it back on the road if you were canny .
