Nice.  Especially loving the GSA X3, there must be hardly any of these left as they were like hens' teeth when new.

The Merc interior?  Awful.  Not even so-bad-it's-good.

I actually went to have a look at this 190D 2.5. The estimate was £1000-1500. True enough it was lovely and well worth a punt. Trouble is it went for £4515!

The GSA was utterly, utterly lovely. Made me wonder what the hell my dad was doing buying Ford Cortinas in 1980 when he could have bought one of those.

Last but certainly not least:

"1992 RENAULT 5 CAMPUS

LOT 170

Following the purchase of a property the vendor was surprised to find this Renault 5 Campus in the garage. It appears that the former resident, an elderly lady, had purchased the car new but disliked driving following a very minor accident in the vehicle so decided to park it in the garage when just a few weeks old where it remained until just a few weeks ago. The car has travelled just 202 miles from new. Offered as it emerged from storage. A new V5C will need to be applied for.

ESTIMATE: NO RESERVE

RESULT: £3,570 INC PREMIUM"

The damned thing even had a petrol receipt in in from 1992 for £5.

And I almost forgot this!

^ Gosh.  Turns out that's a replica of Paddy Hopkirk's London to Sydney CX - it has its own website.

Might have to scratch the CX itch one day.  Closest I've got is sitting in Wuvvum's gold Safari, and even that scared me a bit.  (And no, this is not an ideal opportunity for me to buy Scooters's GTI.)

Some rather choice motors there, several a pleasing change from the usual classic scene stuff.  This is why I don't go to auctions - I'd quickly become very poor and have a monstrous logistics problem.  Would have stopped waving my hand well short of £4.5k for a Merc 190D though, however shiny.

Posted

The picture with the CXs and GS and the 'Adult Warehouse' sign above says it all ! Pure filth !

On a slightly different note... Isn't it strange that cars sell for far more on auction that through classified ads or through ebay ?

Posted

Man, I need to flog my motors through that auction. They make crazy money!  I'd like a CX as well at some point but I think I'd probably go buy one in France rather than here.

Posted

Some crazy money there. When I went to classic car auction in Perth stuff was going for what you could buy it off ebay for, which to me makes the whole thing pointless.

Posted

Strooth so many CXs, I am glad I didn't know about the sale. The CX familiale Cmatic on the Kent registration would have been far too tempting.

Posted

I very nearly did a remote bid on a mint 15000 miles Yugo 45 until the storage charge and my wife's face made me not!

Yowser. Three and a half grand for the Renault 5 Campus.

And the Sunday Mirror predicted a few hundred quid.

Posted

Blimey, some cracking motors there. I love the red interior of that Merc (to my shame!) and all the Citroens are gorgeous.

niiiiice

pagoda 66 not 69 [pendant]

that rx7 looked a bit worn compared to rest

gs want now :D

Have to say, the prices overall seem rooted in common sense. £3000 for a Bentley Eight though - that's a hell of a lot of car for the cash! BX did well at £1050 - represents current market value for a smart turbo diesel.

1978 GMC ROYAL MOTORHOME LOT 88

That is a whole lot of shite win right there

Mega bargain. I'd love one of those GMC's but I suspect that one would be a world of pain, starting with transporting the bugger.

Posted

just get the scrap man round to collect it direct from the auction!! You'd probably make £100 for the cost of a call.

Posted

That Celica was a good buy at only £480 !

I had an A plate 2.0 XT but the headlights "flipped" the other way

Ended up PX'ing it against a MG Maestro 2.0i.....

Posted

And onto Mercedes Benz Heaven. I would cheerfully have sold the lot of you into slavery for the 1969 230 SL

That wouldn't yield enough doh for a wing mirror of these.

Posted

That Celica was rattly/tappety and crunched going into gear.Bottoms of the doors were crusty but it looked honest enough.

I thought the prices of some were too high and whilst listening to shouty auctioneer man I thought about scanning through car and classic, buying one or two and putting them in the next auction.

Posted

^^^ it was in the non runner/project section too so didn't even drive through.

That old 404 pug pickup looked great!

" Patrick Rugg" was offloading several tonnes of citroen, must be having a clear out.
