Now then chaps any ideas what wheels would suit this little japanese jem

I dont want no blingin 20 inch chavtastic wheels or any off this hit with a stick malarky and tyres stretched to within an inch of there lifes  i just want it to look nice and have a little more grip as the tiny tyres are a bit on the wobbly side.

I used to have a set of colt turbo alloys but binned them years ago when no one wanted them  oh how stoopid we can be :lol

I might be wrong (anything is possible) but aren't these Ford PCD? Can you see it with 5.5x13 Cortina Ghia wheels, and 185/70 tyres?

Is it 4x114.3? If it is then something like Wellers or Wolfrace slots could work

Not to sure about that but i do like the look of those Ghia alloys.

I say leave it on its original steelies.

Want to store the wheels in the garage to keep them from rusting and also make the car drive with some feeling, could always start a new trend by fitting larger tyres onto the thin wheels, think the balloon look would take off

yes i think they are 4x114.3 will have to check. not to keen on the weller look i have a set in the garage but they are 10 inchers so mabe best not to try them :D

Strangely the current COLT wheels look pretty good.

Dunno what the PCD is though....... I know it doesn't help lots.

If you can lay hands on a 13" Ford rim, any style, why not jack up one corner and try it? If it doesn't fit, well you've lost a maximum of half an hour, but probably gained a cuppa from the supportive Mrs...

I agree they do look nice but i think a little to modern.

Revolution 4 spokes or Minilites. They're two of those wheels that look good on almost anything.

Yes, I know you lot hate Minilites because they're popular, but I like 'em lot.

Black Minilites or Watanabes always suit J-tin.

Alleycats would be a dealer option I suppose and I have a pic of a racing one somewhere with what look very similar to a Pardat wheel. I'll scan it if I can find it.

Oh that's a bummer, hope you get better soon! No mates around who'd do the physical bit for a cuppa?

Watanabes? im not really a wheel whore, to be honest a set of wider steels would do just dont want to wreck these ones that are the originals, wonder why im likeing your sig pic

I could see Allycats on that, yes... period-correct too. 8) White-letter tyres if you can find any, for the win!

MGBs used the same stud pattern and there's a couple on that rancid BGT in Vlies' yard. Want me to enquire?

Rostyles?

Aye, Rostyles and MGB ones at that? 14"

I love Rostyles, didn't the mk2 Cortina have them in 13"?

Hows about trying to track down a set of RIMZ from a Tredia or Cordia turbo?

I would think that with the right stance a set of mini-lite style wheels would look pretty good?

Do you know the PCD at all?

I wondered if the engine from a Proton GTi could be made to fit in one of these?

Another vote for slots.

I think it'll look a bit like an AMC Pacer/Gremlin with a set of those on.

Remember these are FWD, so a lot of the 'easily' available alloys that would fit might not be entirely suitable. That being said, this one seems to have quite RWD-ish KN wheels fitted:

These were also fitted to Datsuns as an accessory at the time. They do crop up from time to time.

Alloys off a later Turbo, probably impossible to find:

I think Tredia and Cordia did use them as well (see also RWUK's suggestion).

And it looks like this one used Wolfrace Sonic:

Again, surprisingly RWD looking.

I thought it might be.

Colt Car Co may have done Aleycats as an accessory wheel for them too.

They look like they might be 4 x 100

Weller steel wheels would look TEH SEXXX. They are cheap and come in a variety of sizes. The four bolt pattern looks pretty standard to me; and don't forget that a lot of early Japanese stuff copied European cars. This may be an example of such. It would give the thing an OMG RALLY SLAG NOT RWD ambience but I like that.

I think Minilites would look good on it, with a bit of dish and a lower profile tyre. I think you're going to have to lower it a bit as well though, otherwise you're going to have a rim/height mismatch.

Ford and Rootes both use 4 x 4 1/4" (108mm) so they won't fit the Colt, from memory they are 4 x 4 1/2" (114.3mm) try Nissan, Honda or Toyota as I am sure they are the same, also the MGB PCD will fit, so Rostyles etc would fitne, and possibly some of the Triumph rims

Yes think they are 114.3,

DOH what am i thinking ive got the lancer turbo sitting in the barn with gia style alloys and the starlet has a rare set of alloys on it too, also have a set of corrola gt wheels sitting on the running gear, wasnt thinking straight must be the drugs

They are all rwd though so it looks like i will just have to find the strength and get the wrench out

will have to try and remember to take pics as thats something i never seem to remember, even forgot to take the damn thing when i went down to Ashford to collect the old gall,

was going to do a tat collection post but it whent something like this got on train got to london got on wrong connecting train which got me to ashford 40 minutes early, picked up car drove home 75 all the way went to bed, so pretty boreing really not like some of you guys adventures

If they are 114.3 then some Hyundai wheels should also fit - perhaps a set from a Hyundai Coupe as they are FWD.
