Is it me or is Ebay messing about?

They have a section for "Classic Cars" in the vehicle section and "Classic car parts" in the parts section......but as from today when I click on "classic car parts" it lists 1.5 million parts for "Other Car Parts". Anything and everything for cars up to 2011.......what are they playing about at?

They've removed it.

Another Improvement by good old Ebay.

So now I've 201 pages to look through instead of 4... superb.

And nice for anyone with a business selling classic car parts.

Looks as though your right. I can't find Classic Car Parts in the selling categories.

surely nobody does a search for 'classic car parts'? I mean, you either need a new ECU for your 1932 Horsey Horseless or you don't.

Oh I get it now... the same people that keep moving stuff around in my local Asda so I have to go up and down every isle looking for the the baked beans.... and while I am searching they hope I will buy something else that I don't want.

The Classic Car Part has been taken off, so if you search for BMW 2002 - ie. mine you get pages of crap whereas yesterday you could refine the search afterwards to "classic car parts".

Even by Ebay standards, this shows monumental stupidity; full details here (see pages 17-19)

And it's not only classics, I can no longer browse through parts for my four year old Mazda, they too have sunk without trace in the 'other car parts' category  . Don't these idiots realise that people are normally searching for parts for a specific car?

There is now a new category for 'dashboard mats' that just about sums it up.

Does seem a bit crazy! However I often found that Renault 14 parts for example would be in both classic car parts and car parts so maybe in some ways it will be better if they are all in one?!!

Change the seller to 'private'. You will avoid all the crap from the mass-trader selling OMG LED LIGHTBULBS WIPERZ FLOORMATS from China.

Could do, but quite a few of the parts I have found are from trade sellers selling old stock!

If you drew a plot of ease of/satisfaction with Ebay use over the last few years, it would start off very high, and just consistently fall, at a steady gradient. There would probably also be some steeper falls coinciding with periods when they introduce a round of 'improvements to the eBay user experience'.

'classic car parts' has been identified as a catagory generating a lot of disputes.

ebay solution: remove the catagory  problem solved? or just hidden ?

its very annoying for me as i used to search classic parts by nearest location

Ah, now I see the point. I thought you just couldn't browse through a general category named C.C.P. any more.

It still annoys me greatly that you cannot leave bad feedback for buyers anymore, as if they are beyond the pale!!:?

It may help to curb the number of bidders who then don't turn up or "hit buy it now by accident"!!

I've just had a look at Ebid and they still have categories for classic car parts, although you have to dig down a bit to find them and at present there isn't a great deal listed there. Perhaps it is time to give them a boost, Ebay need some competition.

Is eBid that odd place where you have to bid a daft (i.e random) amount to win something?

No, I think those are the 'penny auction' con where you have to pay each time you make a bid. They claim you can get a plasma TV for 1p, but every time you make a bid they put the price up, so you have to pay again and so on  Ebid is like a smaller, homelier version of Ebay, but unfortunately without very much traffic at present, or ever for that matter (I've got a feedback of 17 after about 3 years :( )

I've said it again- the only people who can challenge ebay are Tradus- the owners of Ricardo and QXL. For the life of me, I don't understand why they withdrew from the UK auctions market instead of fighting head-to-head.

Ebay is geared towards the buyer when, infact, it is the seller who makes ebay's vast profit's.The biggest problem with selling classic car parts are the distance selling laws.Mr Joe Public needs a part for his car.He sees a part listed that he thinks is right and instead of asking the seller questions to make sure it's correct he just goes ahead and buys. When the part arrives and he's ordered the wrong part the distance selling laws allow him to return the goods for a full refund.A trade seller selling NOS parts might get (according to one business owner I know) ten of these a week.Pay-pal are quick to take the whole amount and hold it until the problem has been resolved which could be two to three weeks. The seller never gets his listing fee back or the time he has taken in listing and processing the item(s).

I've attended many different "live" auctions and in every case there is a buyer's fee aswell as a seller's fee.I think if ebay slashed the costs of seller fees but introduced a (non refundable) buyer's fee then the whole experience would be like it was six or seven years ago.

Dyno-BOOST tricks the ECU thinking the intake air much more cooler, then the ECU will send more fuel for a richer mix besides the state of the art oxygen sensor overriding circuit incorporated blocks restrictions effected by the ECU.

Think of it as a direct replacement for the clothes peg fitted behind the Herald's choke control knob

Reverse auctions. The lowest unique bid wins. So if the lowest few bids on a plasma TV auction were 1p, 1p, 1p, 2p, 2p, 4p, 5p, 5p, 6p, the person who bid 4p would win. Except of course there are loads of bidders in every auction the vast majority of whom bid too low and often the lowest unique bid is quite high. It's gambling dressed up.

Same story with Yahoo Auctions UK. They had the users, they had the name, they could have taken on eBay. Instead they pulled out of the UK (and later the US) and told all their users to go to eBay.

Woohoo another improvement within 24 hours.

"4 items available from all sellers", hmm wonder where they nicked that idea from.

Rolling on with their Amazon look a like quest....

Wait and see how much of a shash they make with this one coming up:

http://sellerupdate.ebay.co.uk/august20 ... sting.html

The theory (I think) is the H4 lampz sellers will all have 1 listing each instead of 5 bajillion.

Knowing evilbay it will turn into cars not on their list don't exist, so trying to sell / buy any parts for them is impossible 'cos they don't exist so they won't show the listings, but will still charge for them.

Stupid prats!

I have specific searches built only on that section

Plus everything I am selling this week is in that section!!

Posted

Get something that works then over years gradually fuck it up , bang goes my saved searches, i go by newly listed and just pop in and see whats new every day in my specific searches , now I get reams of shit

Twunts

I've just spotted that all the listings from last weekend 'free listings weekend' have suddenly had listing fees applied to them...
