1987 Vauxhall Cavalier LX advert with Martin Shaw

Ford Transit - Backbone of Britain

Ford Escort - Lovely day soundtrack

1988 Fiat Uno - Sunbathing on beach

1987 Mini - Mini's have feelings too

1986 Landrover - Nothing gets in the way of a Landrover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PutPgxD4S2s

That Land Rover ad is possibly the best car ad ever.

R5 GTT. I think the voiceover is Griff Rhys-Taff.

There was a Vauxhall advert with the cars being driven by Red Arrows pilots I think. RAF anyway, and at the end it said "Per Ardua ad ASTRA".

I started dating some bird long-term in 1996 who looked like some random totty on a Nissan Micra advert ("Ask Before You Borrow It"), where she's eating loads of food and stuff, and for that reason I'd love to see that again.

Another is probably the Astra GTE advert where they are all jumping over each other, and the Continental advert where they had 'Riders On The Storm' and four horsemen of the apocolypse imagery. And also the BMW tyre advert where he's doing maneuvres on a skyscraper roof.

This advert is amazing for it's crapness:

/\/\Can't find it on the web, but I've got the 1996 Viz calander in a box somewhere in the garage. Calender is a spoof of classic adverts including one for the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, complete with Sid the Sexist in a Deer-Stalker hat - tag line is the Silver Ghost is a 'Vaginal Lodestone':lol:

Also has along the bottom of the ad 'LONDON - PARIS - NEW YORK - MUNICH - Everybody talk about pop music'

Don't think the West Works at Longbridge ever looked like that. Certainly doesn't now...

That Metro GTI advert seems to suggest that engines were installed upside down in them? Surely that's not good for maintaining oil pressure, having the sump at the top.

Posted

Surely the message of that Metro ad is "even our ultra high tech robots will forget to spec an engine and have to bodge one in from another car at the last minute, even if it won't fit properly".

Anyway, my all time favourite car ad is the MK2 Escort song, which I lost for ages until Autofive kindly uploaded a better quality version. It's a wonderful thing.

My first two choices are quite predictable, really. Loved 'em both:

I always thought the original Vauxhall Vectra advert was quite classy. Much better than the s*it comedy affairs we have now:
