scooters Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Well its midnight and I am at the emergency vet. My poor wee Cain terrier has acute liver failure. Came on in a matter of hours. I am waiting for the test results and will then put her to sleep. Poison of some sortwhat a shirt fucking day.
M'coli Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Aw man, that's awful. We've had ours to the vet again today for various things so I feel for you.
autofive Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 you have my sympathy we nearly lost a dog under similar circumstances a few years ago, it was touch and go for 48 hours, two years on, the dog still isnt fully recovered
CreepingJesus Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Ooh, that's rough. Our thoughts are with you, not least 'cos we had something similar happen to one of the hounds a few years back.
fotorabia Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 very sorry to hear that scooters..i miss my wee terrierist back in NZ heaps..sob..
whitevanman Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 It's truely shit that, lost my first dog to poisoning............I feel for you man.
Baz Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 In my experience, there is very little that's as painful as losing a faithful friend like that....I'm really sorry....
scooters Posted September 24, 2010 Author Posted September 24, 2010 thanks folks, she didn't make it, only 8 years old as well - nothing for a terrier - some chemical took out her liver in about 4 hours. Got home at 6.30 and told the family - wee boy is devastated - fucking shit month this - I need my gall bladder out, I've been made redundant and to cap it all the dog's dead....... could be worse - think of those poor folk in Pakistan I might buy somthing shit and beige to cheer myself up
Rusty Pelican Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Scooters , when your at the bottom the only way is up , no age for your poor pooch and very sad , redundancy is on the cards at work here too , Countrys gone all to pot Beigeness is the way forward
Station Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Get a new dog. What is an emergency vet? I should really know what to do in a situation like this.
scooters Posted September 24, 2010 Author Posted September 24, 2010 just means they can charge 4 x the normal rate for the antisocial hours!
Mr H Sceptre Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Thats seriously harsh Scooters. Pets are like faithful little buddies.

whitevanman Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 it was like I lost a friend, she'd been with me 15 years and through some difficult times in my life was one constant, it's over two years afo and I still miss her. aye I felt the same when mine got put down 3.5 years ago, still look for her everytime I come in the house
HillmanImp Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Get a new dog. You do have another one already though don't you? Sorry to hear it. These were the only terriers I have ever known to not bark at me incessantly. Was shocked when I managed to get in your house with my ankles.
