These went on the emergency forum just before this one came back; so in case anyone missed them, and new forum, new thread :)

Firstly the view from our holiday cottage last week (can anyone guess what's hiding in the barn  )

Footnote Krujoe got this in one, so congratulations and a bottle of virtual bubbly is on its way :o DSCF8418.jpg

Spotted parked up on holiday, Leyland Leopard?. I had so much explaining why I was taking a photo of an old bus instaed of one of the most beautiful coasts in South Wales, I didn't even bother with the immaculate Kia Pride on the other side of the car park

A couple of pick-ups at the local fete at the Worcester end a few weeks ago. is the Fiorino a factory job? It looked it but I've never seen one before:

Finally, who wouldn't want an outfit like this :):)

The bus is one of Silcox Coaches' ex MOD Plaxton Derwent 2 bodied Leyland Tigers; I'd really rather like a shot of one, in the MOD anyway I believe they were 12 metre Tiger 260-spec, 6 speed ZF manual 'boxes.

I think the Fiorino pickup is factory, theres two or three kicking about up here.

Even if they weren't officially listed by FIAT they must have been available somehow. Sellafield (located not far from me) had at least of couple of Fiorino pick-ups for a few years in the mid to late '90s.

The luminous green one in the pics wasn't theirs BTW, before anyone jumps in with the obvious joke.

A local gardener had a black Fiorino pick-up for years, it always looked really tidy. He has a ghastly Nissan Navara now sadly.

Can you buy a small pick-up new in the UK? Now that the Proton Jumbuck is no longer imported I don't think so.

There's these:

The Piaggio Porter.

A different type of beast though to the car based Fiorinos and their ilk.

It was the Open Weekend at the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge today and yesterday, so here is a small selection of the stuff there, for your enjoyment

Locally built (about 85 years ago) Bean:

Pair of Morris J type vans:

Just a brief update this time, although it's the first for a while. Quality has suffered from trying to manage a dog and a camera at the same time, but here goes:

The Circus has come to town, in the local park, so I was hoping to score at least a giraffe transporter :) Sadly they had mostly modern DAFs (it was allegedly the Netherlands National Circus) ; this mid-90s renault was the only transport of any interest:

DSCF0095.jpg

However, there were compenastions. This was parked outside the Post Office and looked like someone's daily:

DSCF0096a.jpg

Parked up by the cricket pitch ready for the new season:

DSCF0098.jpg

Makers plate. I don't know how old it is , but it dates from the days when Bath produced something more than the Jane Austen Heritage Experience:

DSCF0097.jpg

Then I made a slight diversion on the way home so I could capture these:

That Renault reminds me of the beer lorries of that type you used to see.

They are mostly Volvo FL6's or MAN's now.

The Variant belongs to the bloke I bought my KN Geminis off. He fired it up for us. A nice bloke.

Where is that Escort? I remember it being spotted sometime back, I'm surprised it hasnt been lifted.

Obviously I don't want to give the precise location, especially if it is what it says on the tin, but it has been in a front garden on a main road in one of the leafier areas of the Black Country for some time

Tidy little Standard 8:

It made my day seeing this this morning, :) :

Lastly, just saw this coming by while I was loading the dog into the car, so no time to get a decent shot, but still worth snapping :) :

There seems to be a want for spotting threads not fall off the radar; I've been a bit more selective with my spotting lately, but as this thread has fallen back about 200 pages here are a couple of minibuses just to keep it ticking over and make sure it doesn't completely disappear without trace:

1994 Ford Transit Minibus by geoffp5, on Flickr

Rather good quality stuff in here. That last black Transit is the strangest looking Transit I've ever seen, it's like someone has grafted a Transit front end onto a completely different bus.

Posted

Ford and other van makers supply chassis to bodybuilders, usually with the bonnet/front wings and windscreen attached. This probably started out as a welfare bus or a deregulation era minibus. Not sure who the maker was on this one - Reeve Burgess did a lot of these though.

Posted

Transit looks like an ex-gown van or mobile library. It's possibly a former mini-bus but those windows look like a more recent (than 1991-ish) addition to me.

Posted

I reckon the Transit has been a bus from new, it looks like one of those ungainly Cunliffe bodies built mainly for the welfare market. Here's one on a Merc chassis-cowl:

Here's another one. For sale at 3 grand. Fuel economy must be GR-9.99999999

I don't think it was done by Reeve Burgess - didn't they fold in the early 90's?

Cunliffe are probably the culprits. I've seen Ivecos done by them with very similar bodies...

That apparently is a Whitacres body but it looks equally as ugly as the Cunliffe. Reeve Burgess were taken over by Plaxton in about 1992.

It's a while since I've posted anything here, but I hope that it was worth the wait :)

Firstly we went to the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre in Bolton last week (thanks to my birthday present of two tickets from daughter :D ). there were still signs of the passage of his steam vehicles outside:

That Applause is a great spot, although there does seem to be 2-3 spotted in the last few months after a drought.. or people not being bothered.
