Think you might have missed Caffyns on Brooks Road in Lewes - my dad had two company Montegos from there, a 1.6L saloon in 1987 and a Turbo D Countryman in 1990. MGR stayed there until the late 90s I think when they moved into what had been the smaller Isuzu / Subaru / lawnmower dealer near door and the bigger site became JLR. It then went to Lotus and looks like it's now closed. 

Pretty sure Lindfield Garage went to Honda around the time that MGR died off as he had an Accord from there as well.

Caffyns in Seaford is now a Tesco Express but think @High Jetter is your man for that one.

Thanks. Yes, after Caffyns took over, and subsequently closed, Clark & Lambert, the Jag Triumph Rover dealer where I worked in the parts department, I was transferred to Seaford under a Derek Potter. His company 1.3 Allegro was a rocket. Later I transferred to Lewes as Parts Manager until I jumped ship for Honda.  Lewes was their Land Rover branch for many years until quite recently, but then it became their Lotus site. Caffyns also used to have a Rolls Royce franchise at their head office in Eastbourne.

The Upperton Road Eastbourne branch was fairly modern, built in the 60s or 70s. The workshop had pits, rather than ramps. It's now a block of assisted living flates, named after Henry Allingham, the WW1 veteran who lived to be 113 years old.

There are some omissions from the book I think. No mention of Brighton, surely Wadham Stringer / Dutton Forshaw were there in 1988. Nothing for Worthing either, am fairly certain there was a BL dealer there but it's not surfacing into my memory as yet. There were also smaller dealers, like Seaside Motors in Eastbourne and Harris Bros over Herstmonceux way. who presumably got their stock from the main ones.

It's possible some of them had lost the franchise by 1988, one I had noticed was Longs at Howden in Humberside (as it was in 1988) which had been an Austin/BL dealer for years

After (quite) a bit of searching, I found a .pdf of a March 1988 AR dealer list and a 1991 Rover dealer list via @vitessesteve's blog. For Brighton both show Caffyns at 200 Dyke Road (now Caffyns Audi) and 331 Kingsway, Hove (now mixed use)

Worthing had Caffyns at Broadwater Way and at 24/26 Goring Road (now a Tesco Express, I think). Both are still in the 1991 list.

Chodtastic picture thank you so much. Lovely Maestro, my dad had a couple back in the day, a beige A reg which I don't remember as I was about 3 when he had it, then later a white G reg. He had a couple of C reg Montegos as well,a green saloon then a blue Estate which is the first car he had I properly remember

Saint Roques in Dundee (there's a fair bit to say so keep reading!):  The Ward Road site was in a wonderful art-deco style building - the photo of one end of it does it no justice. Showroom and petrol pumps on the ground floor, workshop and parts storage above.  The second photo shows the original building before it was extended.  The petrol forecourt is clearly visible between the archways.

My dad had a couple of company cars from them - an '80 Princess 1.7HL and an '83 Ambassador 2.0HLS.  In 1985 he bought the Ambassador (for £1k) when he parted company with the er, company.  

I had a summer job there when I was a student, driving a parts van for their Unipart wholesale arm.  I recall there were two directors - brothers Bill and Alastair Russell.  They closed the business and went to run a (Ford?) dealer in Blairgowrie - Balmoral Garage.  It's still there and in the hands of the family!  The last time i saw Bill he was unscrewing the brass plate from the Ward Rd building.

I'm not sure where the name came from but I do remember there being a sort of storage unit on Blackscroft, where there remains a St. Roques Lane...

The Clepington Road ("Cleppy Road" if you're local) site came in the eighties  - a showroom, car storage and body shop - and later became a Citroen dealer when Edward & Stewart outgrew their premised in Roseangle.  

Oh, and apparently Saint Roch is the patron saint of dogs and dog lovers.
