^ That can not be real?!, That is a winner for the shitest looking van I've ever seen!

Posted

That van is grotesque.

Oh, and Eddie, a Mk1 is 61 27/32" (1571mm) across from wheelarch eyebrow to wheelarch eyebrow ;)

Mk2 is 1594mm across.

Senator with Carlton goodies at the front:

At least I think that's what it is. Could even be Holden bits.

Looks like possibly Carlton GSi skirts and an Irmscher grille.

Irmscher kit I think? Looks brilliant on them.

Ford are past masters at this. For a factory produced cross-pollinated product simply take this:

Nick this grille off an Orion:

Add a touch of this:

Et voila (ignoring the oily bits, obviously):

All of which was done by many chavs with 1.1 Escorts in the late '80s/early '90s.

I was looking into building a Maestego a few months back when I had a Monty estate with a rotten front end, Maestro bits are much easier to find. Apparently its very difficult as the different scuttle means the bonnet wont fit and the flared sills wont allow the angular Maestro wings to fit, although the conversion is pretty easy the other way round. Plus I saw a photochop and it looked shit.

Cor, I remember that Strange Rover feature! Thought it looked shit hot actually as they actually matched the Rangie's swage line down the side. It was a proper job.

Never seen that RR Disco pickup 155, Ill keep my eyes open for that!

I think the champion 'mixed breed' shite was that Farina which had an unfortunate accident with a LAD cab.

I really should have gone in the Capri this afternoon.... my tape measure was in the boot! Duh... (At least I think it is, it isn't in the truck, I know that for certain now!) According to my reference library there's no noticeable difference, so I'll be rummaging in the Capri tomorrow, ready for Monday...

I know know why, most of these cross-breeds look better than the originals.

Obligatory from me, I love the back end on these mk2s.

Shite badboy extension thingy.

Hey Tayne, that Saab 900-esque Insignia looks awesome. I know I shouldn't but I quite like the idea of some modern reincarnations of older cars (Mustang, Challenger, Fulvia Coupe).

Posted

The Fulvia is the only modern interpretation that I like I think, mainly because they have kept the proportions fairly similar, although i'm sure its about 3 times the size of the original. The rear overhang is tiny, the front isn't that bad and the headlights end before the wheelarches. Good job I say!

This may be a one off (increasing to 20), but I do like this:

Even though they all seem to try and look like stealth fighters.

Anyone remember the original Strange Rover about 30 years ago?,it was a TR7 body on a Range Rover chassis made for off-road racing
