Brand new secondhand-collection caper

I saw it, i wanted it. My thoughts as ever were mostly driven by lust though it turned out that actually I needed it. My reasons were sound and factual, economical and environmental and all the other noble things too.

Affording it was a stretch. I registered interest all the same and when the first buyer was tempted by something less worn with other commodities, well, its fucking happening init.

Convoluted three way convos were had and a plan was made. The plan was then aborted due to my annual leave getting rejected and a newer, better plan was made. More to follow...

Why thank you indeed. This is retrospective mind, largely as i was trying to conserve my shite phone battery for navigations and communications. Am now starting work so this may be a tad sporadic!

Like a junky running for their morning fix I soon hit up the main line. Euston. At this point I remembered I had some funds left over for a high end coffee chain. This pleased me immensely as my left over budget did not stretch to such luxuries.

Now you have the collection thread junkies needing to find ways of appearing to be working* hard* whilst actually checking for your latest posting?

Cool - my procrastination period starts at 8am - looking forward to it :-)

After much fuckabout finding the voucher on email and then testing the patience of the well heeled customers trying to make it work at the till a tasty beverage and an  even tastier cinnamon bun was consumed. This quickly made passed the half hour of I was too exited and got here too early wait for the train.

Lets head north.

Arrive at what I later learned to be MK and there's a ruckus of loud male voices and banging on the side of the train.  Here we go two three four.

Once boarded I noticed two things. This large group were on the whole, mostly about 12 years old max and they were wearing that certain style of designer gear. This conformed that I am old and these exuberant young men were football football cunts.

As if conformation was needed they broke into song and consumed large quantities of alcohol which made me decided that trying to visit one of the 3 working toilets on this 10 carage train was a bad idea.

Good people watching and entertainment I found it. Not sure everyone on board felt the same which was shit luck for them as the dons were away to Crewe which was the final destination of this train and my chance over.

Breakfast

IMG_1088.jpeg.258383e0328d2976f91679d02ac194b4.jpeg

Out of date cheese and onion pasty. Not bad so had both of them back to back.

Nice bit of rolling stock for second shorter leg

A heads up from the fellow shite enthusiast I was due to meet informed me of iffy looking weather.
Hmmm

Quick bit more..

Second train much more civilised and as such a bit boring in comparison. Entertainment was found watching a couple. He was constantly telling here to stop talking so loud. He came across as a bit of a prick and as I was soon to find out there were many more like him.

They weren't just any old out of date pasty, they were m and s out if dates pasties. Quite nice even cold. Or maybe i was just proper hungry by that point.

Destination reached. Manchester. Due to reasons I had the opportunity to talk to many locals who I found to all be the nicest of folk. From what i saw of the town it seemed pretty nice too.  On Saturday however there was a Britain first protest, at about the same time my train came in. Bugger.

Not everyone in todays worn torn world believes that Britain should be first so there were protesters with differing opinions and Police. Lots of Police. Most inconveniently they had not heard I was collecting a new vehicle so had shut down the city centre including buses and trams. Double bugger.

Yes. Hehe.

Now where was we...

Travel was well up the spout in Manchester. An air of confusion rained though ultimately on t alp just adds to the adventure. As does hoofing a big back a mile or so to a few it of the centre bus stop. Parts of the town were cordoned off by riot police who nearly succeeded in convincing me to take a big detour to avoid the 'gangs of youths' who were apparently clashing with each other somewhere out of sight. Hopefully nobody got hurt on the day, ill have to check the news for an update. Some spirted chanting and vigours flag waving was all i saw as i ducked the police line and beelined for the bus stop.

Was a bit of a funny way to learn a new town though had lots of convos with local people which I may well not have under normal circumstances, I liked the place, will visit again.

So who have I met and what have I bought.

No pictures from the pick up point  as too excited and busy chatting plus eating a very welcome bacon sandwich with washed down with a cuppa. Love this place.

Left much later in the day than planned though this trusty steed gobbled up the miles with ease.

Dadadadadadaaaaaaa

Behold the ex @hairnet Honda Nc 750 which was snatched up by @bangernomics and then picked up by my second dibs as our man fancied the dct auto.

Been a while since i had a big road bike so decided a big windy road trip to work would be a great way to start.

Made it to Llangollen where the had eyed up a byway for an overnight camp. Never ridden it before on a trail bike so what way to find out than a heavy slick shod sudo adventure machine.

Plenty torque and momentum made light work.

Pitch up on a flat spot and cooked up some packet rice with tinned fish then hit the sack.

Had been a long day. Morning was a treat. So much nicer than being crammed in a campsite.

A massive thanks to @hairnet for hospitality and being an all round good egg. The bikes a well used example though clearly been looked after where it matters. He even washed it before i picked it up.

Needs doing again now!

Thanks to @bangernomics for his easy going attitude and patience too. Much obliged fellas.

The byway got a bit more testing further on though gravity and no rain was in my favour

Had a walk along the viaduct, well worth the time and nice diversion.

My very first saturday job at the age of 13, was in The AngloWelsh Narrowboats boatyard, at the end of that aquaduct.
Walk to The Eagles, Acrefair, afterwards and spend the days wage on Wrexham Lager and the pool table.

Thats the trick. Never think no cos that when you look down you lay down!

Luckily it don't need filling too often though I did have mutter about it being a shit design to another biker at the petrol station. On the plus side my strapping became more streamlined each time and vastly improved upon the big wobbly mess I left yours with.

Second day I decided id head for work. Not directly as it was sunny. In good weather there's not many places nicer to be than Wales. Headed to Bala then onto Snowdonia before hugging the coast for a bit and then diving across mid wales refinding my inner Rossi. Its like my old cb500 twin. Just bigger and better plus looks like a spaceship.

Muchopleased.

Is this so both tyres can be inflated at the same time? Crazy.
