I'd leave it on the steels....

But then... I would, wouldn't I?

Steels are unexciting, plastic hubcaps cracked.

Two tyres need replacing.

Those 90’s three spokes are a set of 5 plus 5 good tyres.

All for £200.00

Worth considering

Plus professional machining of the centre bores.  Not something I'd want to do as a DIY job.

I am hoping for a sensible price.

Ive got Mercedes Vito wheels on the back of my T4 . Centre bore is miles bigger . Tapered bolts centre the wheel anyway . Its just holding them on in the right place  to get the first bolt in thats a pain .. They foul on the bigger  calliper on the front  ones though , as the off set is different ,  so they're still on T4 wheels .

Use a router to open them up . Or Lepsons in Gillingham have a big lathe

One of these to ream the bore out?  Cut a few discs (4 or 5)from some 18mm board(ply or mdf), glue them together to make a plug that fits inside the hole saw and protrudes enough to centre the saw in the 64mm hole leaving the hole saw teeth to expand the hole to 70mm plus.  Once you’ve cleaned up the rough cut with a dremmel or similar you’ll have 70.3-5mm

OOOOOOOHHHHHH.  !!!!!!

I LOVE THAT !!

Add in decent 30-45mm spacers and we’re halfway.

Change all that to bolt pattern adapter spacers and the world is my wheel shop.

Dang !!

You have changed my mind and knowledge here.

Thank you.

Look at how far in the wheels are set.

So we came back through Wales’ narrow roads and hilly terrain.
The seller had put £20.00  petrol in the car for me to ensure I made the 45 miles home to Craigs home where I was going to stay a few days to help him with some building work.

The drive was uneventful but I was really impressed with both handling and road holding. Engine performance is actually really impressive, overtaking acceleration and hill work made me do a double take.

Craig took me to fill up the tank to the neck about 7 miles from home.

Car took £66.00 or 54.6 liters.

I am hoping to get some idea on fuel consumption on the 205 miles home.

I still have not had the time to edit a short video.

It has an 80 liter tank or 18 gallon (USA gallon I think)

I have driven a few cars. I am also reasonably easily pleased, but I know shit from shit.

Slightly twisty, narrow, wet and hilly roads.

Car is supremely comfortable and realky brisk enough so you don’t ever feel the need for more power.

Craig did say it was the cheapest fuel anywhere.

The cleanup has started……

Well, Sort of.

Being known as a bit of a Womble (understatement of the year) I always have a tape measure and some old bedding in my cars.
Just in case I found some treasure that needed measuring before manhandling it to the vehicle.

Last night Craig bought a massive toolbox of old tools, which included 5 working tape measures and gifted me one.

I also brought the ashtray in and cleaned it out. Well used it was.

Damn, now I fancy something with a GM 3800 in it!!! And I've always so avoided V6 americans in favour of V8's, maybe its time for me to learn a lesson about fuel economy v's useability

Thank you.

Really is nice.

If I were a passenger in it, I’d still say the same.

I went to look around in the trunk at what came with the car.
I will unpack it all when I get home and start to clean the car.
But I also found this can of matched paint.

I don’t think it’s going to make much of a  difference to the paint on this car.

But I will get to it all.

Also found a lovely van picture

Did I mention that I like green?

I take that as a high form of praise.
Thank you.

Early days of course.

I am headed home today, probably via @Andyrew for a cuppa and a chat (ohh and a pee)

Looking forward to the drive.

A few “flattering” photos.

Most of you know, I prefer to show stuff with the flaws, damage or negative observations.

So I took a few pics that may show the car in a bit better perspective than those so far posted.

I also hope to find someone who can PHOTOSHOP a set of Mk1 Freelander wheels, and lower it by maximum 2” visually
I also like the Vauxhall 5 spoke but it may not suit the car either.

If you are able to do so, please post them here.

Thanks.

Surely you remember Rich's XG30 on the freelander wheels:- (click image and open in new tab to remove watermark)

They look surprisingly good on the XG30. Now I wonder how some of the various Saab 3-spokes would look on the Olds! A few of them would suit the 88 slightly better with more rounded surfaces.
