It's a bit damp out this morning, but nothing doing, so shall we go on an adventure?

First mode of transport is MrsR's Mokka, which we will shortly abandon at her place of work not for from the station.

Accompanied today by the delightful MrsR, we have boarded our first train out of Boston.

We've passed through the village of Heckington,  notable for its station museum and windmill and the fact that it isn't Sleaford.

In order to upset the quiet of the carriage,  we've cracked open the 'Yatzy' . No prises for guessing who's homework they've copied.

Off to Tamworth then?

Being as we are on a service that stops at all stations, we get to see some of the smaller stops on the line.

Radcliffe looks tidy from a knackered class 170...

the delightful MrsR,

Oh you've got one of those too?  Yours looks like the later series, I hope she has all the upgrades.  They're supposed to be cheaper to run, but I've never been able to compare...

She is far more than a mere man like me deserves, that's for sure.

I think I had your poo for you this morning.

No way could one body produce such a huge turd. It must have been the accumulation of several people's poos.

The penultimate one, which would be yesterday's?

Chodspeed @ruffgeezer! I trust this will be some manual tow car?

Home safely, I'm sure it wasn't hard to guess what the prize was!

It's a lovely thing to drive and the snag list is a short one.  I'm looking forward to getting to know it a bit better once I get a chance.

Finally had a bit of a look around this one today, nothing majorly concerning but it does want some rust proofing underneath to protect it long term.

One thing I picked up on almost  as soon as I collected it was a smell of fumes in the cabin.

Hmm, this looks a bit sooty under the engine cover.

Injector 3 and 4 looking the likely suspects,  I sprayed a load of brake cleaner around the injectors to see which one is letting by.

You can just make out the vapour around no.3 injector.

I've started cleaning up and have new injector washers on order.

I've also a rear droplink to solve the rattle from the back end.

Was going to say before reading the rest of the post, it looks to me like Injector 3, which is absolutely caked with soot. Injector 4 only really has it on the side nearest 3, which gives the impression it's just getting the crap coming off 3. As does the pipe in between them a little further back, the soot is all concentrated on 3's side, which strongly suggests as well that 4 is probably 'ok' and not even leaking on that side of 4, given that side of the middle pipe is the cleanest bit of the lot and would be in the firing line of 4 if it was leaking, again pointing to it all being from 3.

I had a freelander sport for a bit and that was really pleasant. Would have again 9/10.

I've barely had time to scratch my arse this last week or so.

I've driven the Freelander once since it got home - to pop it up on the ramps and find out what the knock from the rear was.

I have looked at the leaking injector and sadly broke the return pipe trying to remove it.

The injector was stuck fast so I bought an injector slide hammer.  It was still stuck fast but I found just a brief soak in this was enough to soften the black muck in order for me to slide hammer the bastard out.

I shall have to give the injector a good clean up, here it is on the slide hammer.

The washer got the same treatment on a smaller scale.  I'm off to work shortly so the cleanup will have to wait.  I'm out again tomorrow trying to extract a starter motor from my friend Paul's Renault Master van.  What a cock end of a job that is turning into.

After the loss of power and the p2263 code, I carried out a smoke test by torchlight.  A minor leak after the maf but not much else doing.

Will road test and retry tomorrow now that the small leak is cured.

I changed the back brakes on Wednesday as when i pulled the back wheels off to get tyres, I found the pads to be almost to the metal, the discs were pretty ropey too.

There is still no power when on boost above 3k rpm - in fact it cuts all of the power making the bloody thing lethal.

A swatch at the data groups shows it believes the ambient air temperature to be 34.7°c when the dash tells me it's 4°c so I shall try that in the hope that it is knocking the air density calculation off. The sensor does detect temperature change but it seems to massively over read.

Also the undertray is slick with oil and the gearbox has gotten noisy.  I don't think this one is going the be a keeper.
