Good luck with this car ND.  I also own a 924...

And it has these...

Which I can confirm, are also a total pain in the arse, for no gain whatsoever and worse fuel economy.

Keep at it!!

Brilliant, thank you.

The positivity and humour here keeps me going 😎

With the caveat that I know absolutely fuck all about anything and lack even the ability to search this forum. Can anyone else remember a contributor who some years ago, posted a detailed description of his kjet re-build. Including the modification at the end when he put a dent in something with a big hammer to allow something else to move further than designed?

I saw those trumpets and thought exactly the same.

Any videos?

Remaking of the £100 pipe in progress:

PXL_20251019_110140655

Total cost so far - £2.69 for another two pipe clips.

Cheapo Screwfix pipe bender works a treat! Needn't have worried about using 8mm pipe - the pipe out of the accumulator is that diameter anyway.

Completed pipe now ready to re-fit:

All fixed in place now and no leaks.

Car starts first time.

Pressure sinks when warm, same as before, but it does seem to start fine 🤷‍♂️

Going to get it back on its wheels and see how things go...

That’s great - hopefully you can get a few miles on it now and enjoy it, to give you the desire to get stuck in if the issue resurfaces!

There are only a few things that really cause headaches with K-Jet.  Disuse, vacuum leaks, and being meddled with.  Ethanol I'm sure now adds more excitement to the mix which will likely require a bunch of additional hoses and o-rings to be changed that otherwise would be fine for the next 30 years.  I blame that on the twats who decided to stick ethanol in all our fuel though rather than the system.

Keep your chin up and keep at it.  You'll get there, and once the bugs are worked out it'll probably be something which aside from occasionally cleaning the flap on the metering unit won't ever need attention again.  I know getting there though can feel frustrating as it's a lot of little bits that need a lot of dismantling to get to - but you'll get there.

If you've got a good hydraulics place near you they should be able to make up a new fuel line for you for reasonable money using the old one as a template.

Seems to be running OK, so I've had a few cautious laps around the block in the rain:

PXL_20251019_152459721.MP PXL_20251019_152740931

Re-starts instantly. I have no idea why or how.

The WUR I fitted looks like it's out of a Volvo (amongst other things) originally: https://www.deloreango.com/en/volvo-control-pressure-regulator-warm-up-regulator.html

I think the pipe on the back is just a vent. No great consensus on the net, and it seems to work.

Do not, under any circumstances, question this. If you do you will anger the gods. And then the problems will return. Good news though pal 👍

Twin choke side draught Webers are the work of the devil. Or something. Even the noise gets on your tits after a while. God invented SUs for a reason.

(Lovely looking car tho @Rusty_Rocket. Ignore me. Im bitter with Webber 🤣)

Stalled out when idling, so I richened the mixture by 1/4 of a turn on the Allen key, which seems to have done the trick.

Well, it's still not right - not really running properly and wouldn't re-start hot yesterday.

So I've had enough and stuck it in the barn and walked away. I have literally no idea what to do with it otherwise. Total junk.

I can completely empathise with you on this. I've Bosch KE Jet fitted to mine and it drove me quite bonkers. Mine is just about running correctly now after about a year of trail and error.

Mine had a borked ECU, which caused all sorts of high jinks.

I also bought a second hand fuel distributor from a known 'good running' car that was being broken - just in case.

The problem with these K & KE Jet systems, is that once they've been pissed about with, they are VERY difficult to get back to a 'factory' base point.

You can even get fake Chinesium Webers these days: https://ebay.us/m/sh8aaD

If I were clever I'd make an adapter to fit one to the manifold I've got:

PXL_20251018_114204115

But I'm not.

It would look something like this https://www.facebook.com/groups/2172115969804507/permalink/2619762801706486/

This looks great https://www.the924.com/?page3 but the price is 2100 Euros 🤣

Probably the only realistic option is to rebuild the fuel distributor. Parts are about £50 for the kit and there look to be plenty of guides online. My hands are really not steady enough for that kind of work though, and I'm not wasting another £500 for a rebuilt one only to find the fucking car's still a bag of shit.

Hopefully someone will steal it, or there'll be a small, quite contained fire.

Just found this thread and had a good read through. Not sure of your image hosts @N Dentressangle but most of them are unviewable to me on laptop or mobile; wifi or 4/5G

Imgur have decided they aren't playing by the UK's new internet "safety" rules (where you have to disclose your photo ID to a kindly third party to prove your age) so have just dropped support for the country entirely.

Yeah, it's Imgur being twats.

You can get around it by using a proxy or something like that. It's a PITA

You make it sound that Imgur host pawnography.

if even just image hosting sites are doing this for pics of old cars and nothing of restricted viewage it’s a very sad state of affairs.

I’ve been considering this for some time as there have been things on Netflix, Amazon Tv etc I’ve started watching and all of a sudden been pulled from the UK streaming and I’m half way through.

Sorry to hear it’s still not right, so frustrating!

You’ve done well to keep going for so long and in such a methodical way whilst it resolutely fought you.

At present you don’t feel like you’ve got anywhere, but you have! The timing is now sorted, and it does at least run again (even if not well!). You know that there is an issue with fuel pressure escaping, it’s just not clear where.  I’m confident it’s nearing a conclusion.

I think the issue is that children under 13 shouldn't be allowed to make an account, to prevent their data being illegally handled. The old "I am over 13" checkbox is no longer sufficient under UK law so you'd need a way of checking the account holder's age. Realistically the easiest way to do this is to employ a third party company to carry this out and Imgur have decided it's not worth the hassle.

I mean, it's one way to find a fuel leak.
