Schaefft Posted August 2, 2025 Author Posted August 2, 2025 Got the price down a bit further in the end but the gearbox will need some attention/replacing if I'm unlucky. But even then it's still going to be financially viable considering the mileage. Big thanks to @DirtyDaily for spending his Saturday lunch time on buying dodgy Range Rovers! dome, Tickman, privatewire and 4 others 6 1

Big thanks to DirtyDaily for spending his Saturday lunch time on buying dodgy Range Rovers! My pleasure. I think a gearbox specialist is the first port of call rather than a LR specialist. May be able to save you some money. Maybe even just a service can salvage it.
Talbot Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Sooooooo I understand this RR needs to be in Hexham, and I have a C6 in Hexham I need to drive home. Whereabouts is the RR, and would it be beneficial for me to drive it up to Hexham? Also, thanks @loserone for the tag!

Arrangements have been provisionally made to bring Schaefft to stockport this saturday unless you think it would be easier for you to take the RR up to Hexham.
Talbot Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Depends a lot on how quickly this would need doing. I can't do this weekend, but probably could do something in the next 3 weeks or so. I could Tren up to stockport, drive the RR to hexham and then drive the C6 home. But only if that works for everyone.
Minimad5 Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 @DirtyDaily - How does the TDV8 compare to the 4.4 'we' had ? Desperate to get back into a L322 (or L320) and see these are a bit cheaper than some Td6 models.

Im not sure if this one has had a map or something at some point but it feels really strong. Its made me want one, the only issue being the pitfalls of the diesel engine over the petrol. If i do get another it will be a 3.6 or 4.4 facelift jobbie i think. Not sure if itll ever happen but i could definitely see myself smoking around in one. Minimad5 1
Schaefft Posted August 8, 2025 Author Posted August 8, 2025 Train tickets for a collection were bought yesterday, if one of the admins could move the thread into the Autoshite section that would be great. I'll use it as collection thread going forward! DirtyDaily, dome, mk2_craig and 1 other 4

Schaefft Posted August 10, 2025 Author Posted August 10, 2025 And we are off! First time booking a taxi from the new place, I now know what to expect next time around. Not Newcastle train station this time! With the car already revealed it's not quite as exciting as usual. But with this being a JLR product which I already know isn't in its best shape right now the return journey could be quite the adventure! dome, DirtyDaily, Split_Pin and 14 others 17
Schaefft Posted August 10, 2025 Author Posted August 10, 2025 Train to Carlisle is packed! If anyone is wondering what I had for breakfast to sustain me throughout this collection: a somewhat stale Croissant and some blueberries that needed to go. That'll do I'm sure. privatewire 1
Schaefft Posted August 10, 2025 Author Posted August 10, 2025 Carlisle achieved. Train for the next leg is slightly delayed, with only a short connection time at the next stop we'll see if that's a problem or not. DirtyDaily, Tickman, Rust Collector and 3 others 6
Schaefft Posted August 10, 2025 Author Posted August 10, 2025 With things being a little less exciting than usual it's time to change that. There is a parallel development after I received an email from an interested tenant late yesterday evening. He happens to be very much into the same cars (his flatmate has an '08 Cadillac CTS, what are the chances?) and sent me a link to a car I've been after for years, and this one might finally not be complete f*cked. And it's on my way back to Hexham! The seller agreed to a viewing later today so stay tuned for that... Rust Collector, Split_Pin, Jenson Velcro and 11 others 14

Schaefft Posted August 10, 2025 Author Posted August 10, 2025 Mandatory Manchester Skyline progress report. Things continue to grow upwards! Unfortunately I got a message from the seller of the mystery car. Despite only being listed yesterday evening someone already committed to buying it. Just how things go when something rare for a good price comes up. dome, yes oui si and Rust Collector 3
