DavidB Posted June 14 Posted June 14 I've seen this enough on the road to know it must be a common thing on these, what is going on here? CaptainBoom, grogee, Tenmil Socket and 11 others 6 8
timolloyd Posted June 14 Posted June 14 A bit like gaffed up QashQai number plate lamps. Once you see it, you see it everywhere! Rustybullethole, Tenmil Socket, Brigsy and 1 other 2 2
Low ontime Posted June 14 Posted June 14 It’s Ford being cheap, the rubber seal on the door is just stuck on. forcus c max and fiesta if holes where made and plastic push in plugs where there like many other cars it wouldn’t be seen
Brigsy Posted June 15 Posted June 15 See fuck loads of these with the rubber hanging out the door. This is a sign they are ready to be the deliveroo car before they end up on the scrap pile. Seem this quality repair in London this week. I guess previous QashQai owner timolloyd 1
sierraman Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I’ve got a Focus but I’m working hard, hopefully I’ll have enough for a German car soon and not have any of these problems. 😂 smellypoo and R Lutz 2
grogee Posted June 15 Posted June 15 There is/was a recall, but the "fix" just involved cleaning the bottom of the door and sticking a new seal down with 3M tape. As @Low ontime says, the proper solution is holes plus plastic clips to stop it falling off, but Ford cost-reduced that to double sided sticky tape or school grade pritt stick.
smellypoo Posted June 16 Posted June 16 It's a very minor design flaw - I'm a bit biased as a serial Focus buyer! While they're not perfect they're often incredible value even with taking their flaws into account, some of which are way more serious in my mind than a bit of rubber falling off the bottom of the door. goosey Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Dude at work had an issue with his 14 plate Focus hatch where the gaskets around the rear lights both had disintegrated and we’re letting water into the boot -not sure if this is a common issue? easy fix just using silicone sealant instead of the gaskets the cars been absolutely faultless otherwise in 7 years of ownership

catsinthewelder Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Transit Customs are even worse, the passenger door seal runs underneath the fuel flap. Diesel spills make the trim expand and fall off its clips. I was binning them at 3 months old. At least the Focus door trims usually survive 3 years. The number plate surround on my mk2 came loose too and took a fair bit of paint off the bootlid. Mostly caused by a cheap bike rack.
Bren Posted June 16 Posted June 16 When I was part of the SD1 club somebody mentioned that when the late Terry Wogan had his radio programme he did something similar for dented Rover SD1 bumpers- series one obviously because series two were plastic.

My mother paid a Ford Dealer to attach the passenger side rubber and sort out 2 dodgy tyre pressure sensors. The bill? Over £300. Mind you they did come 10 miles to pick it up and drop it back which was good* of them. A month later the other side came loose, and the 2 other pressure sensors went dodgy. 66 plate 85k estate.
sierraman Posted June 16 Posted June 16 That’s why you don’t see any Ford Focuses on the road. Those that didn’t have the wet belt explode were scrapped due to the trim falling off. Brodders 1

I'm sure I saw one a couple of weeks ago.Though it might have been a Toyota.Come to think about it,yes it must have been a Toyota, because they last forever........! .
mk2_craig Posted June 16 Posted June 16 9 hours ago, BorniteIdentity said: rubbish Sounds like the same design continued to the 2018-on “mk4” models too. Same inevitable results, same official fix. Still, it no doubt saved Ford 37p per car, which was a decent benefit to the overall margin back when they were selling more than 150 of them every year. BorniteIdentity 1
