You'd think the guy would lose his licence, but from what NB says I bet the police only came out to see if the cars he hit were taxed....

Rotten luck. I don't doubt your ability to sort it, everything else that seems to happen to you suddenly becomes resolved which I guess shows the power of keeping your head and working through things carefully. I certainly wouldn't want to mess with your motors :)

Good start.Nice bloke.Quinns Insurance -kiddy cover specialist, but they've been excellent with me so far.

Nonplussed. Will make formalish offer shortly - but ballparks-

Fiat 5-6k, Barkas 2-3k, Renault 1k (less salvage rights)plus a bit for''stuff''.

Might not come through -who knows- but a reasonable start to a mucky biz.

Sorry to hear that Nige, not nice.

Hopefully the insurance company won't mess you around. Good luck with it.

Bloody hell Nigel, I just can't believe the run of bad luck you've had. I guess that will take some sorting out.....

Commiserations Nigel, you do seem to have a lot of luck - all bad :(

The insurance company will no doubt give you the runaround but hold out for maximum payments.

The cars remain your property! You do not have to buy them back!

If they start being arsey, as mentioned above, take legal advice - if you win a court case, and I don't see how you could fail here, then they pay the legal/court fees and your expenses.

You can also sue the driver of the other car independently if the insurance settlement is unsatisfactory but that could go either way once you accept a settlement from his insurers.

Been there, done that :). My Minx stolen from a garage where it was left for a warranty repair, stolen from them and they denied liability. Cost them a packet.

Someone wiped out my Accord. Claims adjuster came out, took some notes and photo's then skedaddled. I presumed the worst but received a report a couple of days later detailing all sorts of broken bits that were untouched. He made it look as though the damage was far worse than it actually was.

They paid top book price ( more than I paid for it two years previously) and the car remained mine, no question of them removing it.

All settled in less than a week and I drove the car another year before leting it go in PX for the C5, to save me trying to get it back home and to a scrapyard.

That really is tragic, is there no way the Fiat can be repaired?

Posted

Thats just terrible , My commer was smashed in a hit and run a few years back , i was screaming blue murder for weeks , how do you stay so calm

Stuno-=that looks a right bargain.

Sadly we can't register to bid because we're not local.

I'd have no probs shipping that -esp now movement prices have dropped so much.

Sadly-mine is definitely toast. The pics dont convey how bad it is, but its truly banana shaped. Not one panel anywhere fits anymore, the suspension,(front & rear is out of line) -the rear axle is so bent the wheel is totally locked - kinda making movement difficult.

Yet toslovethat one.

It'll be useful spares for my blue one and (earlier) black one -so it'll not be wasted.

Now need to find a local panel beater for the Barkas..too much for me.

Any recommendations?

There must be a swarthy man with a hi-ab in your area :P

I reallydontwant any of themanywherenearthe place.

I've screwed my back-sorting the crash -but I guess it'll be shifted on trolley jacks later in the week

Jeez, I can't believe this so soon after all the other shit. Hope that gets sorted quick, real shame the Fiat is FUBAR.

Posted

The Fiat does not look screwed to me, depends how much you like it I suppose, but there doesn`t look to be anything un-sortable on there, might need to go into someone who really knows their bodywork but and these people sometimes want a lot, sometimes don`t. I`ve had some nice surprises quoted for seemingly unrepairable structural damage, I bet the bloke who did my 323 would laugh at the idea of that being unfixable.

I have only just seen this! Ah mate you would have no luck at all if it wasn't for the bad luck. Hope the insurance gets it sorted soon, and hold out for the best possible!

id have cut the little shits bollocks off if that happened to my motors. Hope his insurance premium goes through the roof for the rest of his life.

what a twat of a thing to happen. Gutted for you mate, hope you can sort it out hassle free.
