As for people playing the system, my work gives me a lot of exposure to the specific details. I have to say that whilst a lot of people seem to do it, I can't see many people who do particularly well out of it. If you want to doss around doing very little for not a great deal of money, the option is there - take it up if you fancy it (whilst you still can!).

I have 5 kids aged 8 -18 and I can honestly say I've never made a killing in the benefit world. I was skint when I was working and and I'm still skint now I'm on incapacity benefit.

 

But, a family of six from Iran have recently moved in not far from us and they already have a 09 plate motor and the council is completely renovating their house for them even though it was last done only 4 years ago! My daughter said that the three older kids have decent (£200+) mobile phones too.

 

Obviously I don't know specific details about them but the parents definitely look like top grade work-dodgers.

Allocate each family unit one 15th of a hectare, some basic tools and a pair of chickens. Nothing else. Plenty of driftwood and flotsam etc collects around the island, so I guess they'll have a house built within a few months. Plenty of rain for drinking and irrigation.

 

Let's face it, a very large percentage of the world's population need to exist in this fashion. Within 3 generations, they will have learned the ideal size for a family.

The genes for ginger hair are not dominant, hence why 2 copies are needed and also why it can suddenly appear in a child when generations have passed without it.

 

The son's genetic skin condition must surely be passed on from the mother and is also recessive - this could explain why are there so few boys in the family, because most male embryos abort before they can get to a stage when the mother notices that she's pregnant. I suspect that the girls are alright because the X chromosome from dad has no defect in this gene.
