Shit shit shit, I hate these fucking thieving scum. Hope you get it back mate, and soon

Posted

Thanks all.

I've checked the entire local area in case a lowlife pulled it around the block for its slots (Australian-instantly identifiable-but he wont know that) withoutluck-but it may be hiding in a lockup somewhere.

You wouldnt pull it far -too identifiable -and around here-as mine!

Or it was lorried. In which case I doubt I'll ever get it back -at least in one piece.

Thanks again for all your help-very much appreciated.

Sorry for posting again with nothing helpful at all, but this is genuinely making me really bloody upset. The scum that did this need stringing up from the nearest lampost. It really saddens the heart that there are people out there that think they can get away with taking other peoples property in broad bloody daylight, it's an absolute disgrace. I really am fairly close to tears thinking about this.

I hope it gets resolved very soon, I can barely imagine what you are going through right now.

i would go bloody apeshit if somone as much as took one of my scrappers, if i had that car i don't know what i would do, very sorry to here about this car going missing, and really hope you get it back in one piece.

Posted

Maybe worth calling the local scrap yards, see if they can keep an eye out...

Posted

Sorry to hear of this, looks a really nice car that. Hope it gets found.

Would be worth making sure that someone went down to to the Oval at Angmering to check if its being ragged. Seen a few classics ruined round there before.

Posted

Heart-breaking and infuriating - I really hope this has a happy ending Nigel.

Nigel,

You are without a doubt the unluckiest shiteist I know. I am really sorry to hear of this, especially after all the aggravation over your unit, and then your 5 Gordini resurfacing. Needless to say, we have a fair proportion of the NW covered so if it shows up round here you'll hear about it.

Not much consolation I know - but at least you have a couple of hundred people on the look out for it.

I don't know how this could be moved on because the market for them is so tiny in the UK.

That leaves the minority of shady banger racers or dare I say it, exporters. Were this type of Datsun popular in Africa, or were later cars derived from it?

Posted

If it was mine, better it gets exported than go round the oval. If this turns up at a banger meet it will stick out like a sore thumb. Not like there's a lot of em about is it?

:cry::evil:

That's a real shame Nigel, I hope it turns up.

I think if it turned up at a banger meeting it would certainly draw far too much attention (or I would hope so) and would hopefully at least lead to a prosecution. It was suspected that the Practical Classics Granada had turned up recently at a meeting I believe after being squirrelled away for a couple of years until the fuss died down. Even if that happened with this car it would still be unique and be spotted by someone so you'd have to have some real balls to nick it for that purpose I reckon.

Yeah but as most petty theives are thick, this won't have occured to them. They'll just be thinking about a £500 rarest car raced prize.

Anyway, I am really sorry to here this and really hope it turns up in one piece.

The one that got stolen was an earlier Mk 1 in Roman Bronze, and that did go round the oval.

Ah Different one then, Is that the one where the competition was to guess how many pork pies would fit in the boot?.

Still a shame though, Little F**kers.

Regarding local metal yards it might be an idea to find someone you know (if indeed you do know someone) who weighs cars in and go with them on their next trip.

That way you might spot it on a frag heap ready to be torn apart. Obviously hope it doesn't come to that but if you ask about locally with scrap people you don't know they might call the yard and have it crushed immediately so if you can go yourself you might have a fighting chance of seeing it.

I hear the odd rumour about some yards having a policy where 'known' people bring cars in, give the crane driver as certain signal and the cars go straight into the crusher.

Is this not the same car that was recently either stolen or seized in lieu of moneys owed (or whatever).

Is it not likely that this has happened again?

Posted

Pog-interesting idea and already covered.

I owe them nothing-and am suingfor the recovery of moneys outlaid. There are also criminal legals grinding slowl yalong.

Despite that I went up there-and nothing.Notthier style really-think of the backlash..

I'm just wondering whether its a case of the car being stolen to order - there's a possibility that someone somewhere knows of this car and has specifically taken it - export would be more than likely as its such an unknown model in the UK.

Posted

dude i hope you get it back in one piece, shockin'

:(

Ease of identification wouldn't put racers off unfortunately - think about the infamous one-of-a-kind Plymouth a few years back, and I think another unique Datsun around the same time (made a LOT of pages on RR at the time, and a lot of members left over it) - both were actually photographed at the tracks, but no-one was ever brought to account over it, legally or otherwise.

I really really hope this turns out well though - it could just be an opportunist who's hoping to make some cash selling spares, and doesn't realise just how rare it is. A lot of stolen classics do turn up again in one piece, don't give up hope!!

Justread through this thread and my piss is boiling.....bastards :evil:

I'm really gutted for you Nigel. It's a horrid sickly feeling that leaves your stomach twisted. Clearly whoever took it has no idea what they've done - this car is too distinctive to sell. Speaking from experience the first 24 hours are key to finding the car.

Here's pic with the current plate and slots.

I've posted the news up on the datsun forum - and I'll spread the word via flickr etc.

Hope you don't mind me using that pic in a certain weekly publication Mr Loud. If you do, let me know ASAP! Hope it can be found again. Bad news.

hope it is found in one piece

Unbelievable this story, you import a car all the way from fuggin Australia, and some nobhead takes a shine to it and decides to help themselves to it off your driveway. Fingers crossed that the culprits will ultimately die of some debilitating illness that deletes all their faculties but takes a few years to finally finish them off.

Maybe get some pics photocopied and distribute them around the metal yards and race promotors. Is it valuable enough to offer a cash reward? Nothing gets people to grass like cash. I would imagine its been pinched to race although its often the case that stolen motors go through several hands before they finally see the track, the racer often unaware of the source of the car, the Plymouth satellite is a prime example.

Posted

Doing that. DW's putting in Classic Car Weekly tomorrow, & its due inPC next month.

MarksSparks is putting it on EVERY Police database (inc Interpol!) -I'm trawling local scrappers. Reward offered etc

To date -the local rozzers havent even bothered to supply a Crime Number. Only3 days so far.

Quick enough to check my tax discs -weekly though. Caught the local PCSO doing it again yesterday. Marvellous

I've been away so missed all this, Ironically I only came on yesterday to report the theft of a friends lovely Dolomite (that used to be mine)

I'm very sorry Nigel and you can guarantee I shall keep 'em peeled. They are obviously not career criminals but utter fuckwits, good luck.

Posted

Isn't this a little small for a banger race - it looks about the size of a Minor?

Anyway, good luck Nigel, I hope you get it back.
