Can anyone find any more clips from this series? Especially the company car episode.

Main thing I remember of this programme was everyone apriring to an "i" badge on their bootlid. Was the early 80s though.

Brilliant series. There was a book to accompany the series which I had, probably long since lost / binned now though :(

I have all the episodes shown last year on a dvd somewhere. In the meantime, there is a torrent of it available here if you wish to sign up!

Wasn't it the 90's round about 92 seems to ring a bell,

Loved the company car one, "They gave me a maestro clubman diesel;

I feel like I've been shat on"

Prophetic words indeed!

Didn't that guy admit to going home and crying about that!

There was also the twat who openly admitted he would look in the rear view mirror, and if the car behind him wasn't a higher spec than his (his benchmark being headlight wash/wipe), then there was no way he was letting them past.

And they say the "Audi phenomenon" is a new thing

He was talking about a J plate Maestro, which would make it about 1992.

Wasn't it body coloured bumpers?

I also remember the rep who said the i on his Cavalier GLi stood for "Important"

There was a whole hierarchy, grey bumpers were at the bottom, fog lights were at the top IIRC.

I sent a stiff email to the BBC when they didn't put the Rep episode on iPlayer but got no response. Cunts.

The series was first broadcast in March 1994 (I’m guessing it was recorded in late summer early Autumn 1993, from the background shots it looked like late summer)

Amazingly it was repeated in February/March 2009 as part of their motoring season. They were only shown once usually between 11pm and 1am. I turned on BBC Four one night and caught part of the first programme I guessed straight away what it was and was really pleased to see it. The 'It Gets You Out Of The House' (young people with their first car) episode I thought was the best, the rather posh girl with the 2CV was funny and there was a really spoilt boy with a new Clio.

One person that sticks out I think from 'She Likes It Hot Episode' was a husband who hated that fact that his wife had a Peugeot 405 "as its a mans car".

It was unbelievable how many Metros were on the road back then, I bet most of the featured cars have now been scrapped.

Has anyone got these on DVD or downloaded somewhere. I keep hearing about the company car episode (Meastro Clubman Diesel and feel like being shat on?) but apart from the above video, I've never seen any of them.

Anyone here willing to burn them onto a DVD for a few quid?

I know they are available as a torrent, but I wouldnt know where to start with a torrent and my connection is pretty shit.

Bizzarely, my brother was talking about this a few weeks ago - how the man actually cried because he had been given a Maestro Clubman diesel. It was a blue one, I seem to remember. Wasn't he given it because his sales figures were below target as a punishment?

Thanks, but I was after someone on here who could burn possibly the whole series onto DVD for a few quid. I cannot download torrents due to restrictions, and my connection is pretty shit anyway.

No worries, I'll find something.

The Box is only accepting new members if they are invited. I've been trying to download it since it was on last year but it seems to be a dodgy torrent file, no matter where you download it from.

I'd happily send discs and an SAE to anybody who was willing and able to do me a copy.

If not, no worries, I'm sure they'll pop up on the net some time soon.

Anyone who hasn't seen them and gets the chance to it is well worth it, some of the people on there were damn right strange.

Well worth it for the street scenes and background cars, the camera work is excellent and it was a very modern style of documentary at the time and still feels modern (apart from the cars) there is no narrator and the people just talk at the camera with no questions being asked, it tends to focus on one driver for about five minutes and then goes on to another, the camera is in the car while they are driving and you feel you are in the car with them, its very well made.

That was very interesting, I had to listen very carefully though to understand the beautiful lady with her Mini Cooper. I wasn´t able to understand everything, but it´s getting easier everytime I watch it.

Would be great to see more videos like that.

Great stuff, thats exactly what I'm after as I've heard so much about it. If its easier for you to stick on Youtube, that would be great. If not PM me how much you want and how to pay and I'll PM you my details.

Thanks, :D
