Incoming…. A 2003 white Jaguar X Type 2.5 V6.

Having been keeping my eyes out for S types.. my pal is closing down his wedding business so has a fair conditioned White X Type up for sale.., I got it for mates rates and primarily I’ll run it as a business car.

Attached is a sneak peak, I’m picking it up next week so more photos will follow then!

Have not owned an X type before but apparently they are nice cars! Will soon find out!

Do you think there's correlation between using an X Type for a Wedding car business and that business closing down ?

I mean what sort of wedding planner isn't looking for a vintage Rolls Royce or 1960s Jag S type but is happy to book their clients an X Type.

That said it looks great. And I'd like one at mates rates.

Right little problem - I hope it’s little.

So drove it 40 miles home, drove like a dream and didn’t miss a beat… until….i took it out of drive and into reverse.. it would not go back into Drive. It’s fine when cold, but warm it won’t engage, until it’s cooled down. It would seem like it needs a service and will definitely get it booked in as soon as I can.
it was changing gear absolutely fine on drive home.

Unusual in that colour - is that from new? Very nice.

Gearbox  - probably plenty of info on the specialist forums.

yeah I need to sit and have a read.

Yes I have a sale reciept from 2013 that says it is white.. and it is white in all of the places you would not expect if it had been resprayed. I found an online cheer that says it was white all of its life.

It really does look good in white, I did not think I would like it but it has a very nice stance.

I am putting this down to stretched gear cables... If I 'BANG' it into drive when it is warm it engages every time.

I have been pointed to a PDF - written by a Jaguar Technician and approved by Jaguar on how to fix the issue and it is just a case of replace cables and adjust - the PDF details the procedure. If you need the PDF let me know. Would likely be the same for S Types as well.

Nice in that colour and looks good, but agree about changing the headlights.  The black ones make the car look like the victim of an engine fire!

I'll take the wrap off them when I get 5 minutes to sit the car still! ive been all over in it! It's a dream to drive... as you can imagine. And its not anywhere near as bad in fuel as I thought it was going to bed!

Really enjoying driving it!

I cant believe the insurance on it is less than half of that of the Espace... £42 per month or there about... £106 per month on the Espace!!

I’d be inclined to get under it and lanoguard or equivalent underneath. MOT advisories for it don’t make for positive reading, especially since the rust has clearly taken hold a few years ago and it’s happening again.

Indeed it is on my to-do list. The chap I bought it off uses a garage that I know... and theyve done a lot of welding on it. But it looks to be a good job. Since last MOT its done about 300 miles (110,452)... and the guy I bought it off has kept it in dry storage.

So as you say itll need lanoguarding - ill likely get it done at MOT time.

If you get bored of it I'm sure John Prescott would take it off your hands. Besides he only lives around the corner ;)
