That manky ex-taxi is absolutely superb!

If I owned that I would simply add a front bumper guard like so:

Then I'd just drive around on my own terms, because what would anyone do about it? Nothing I'd wager. Move it suckers!

You could spend your time honking the horn in stationary traffic, shouting abuse out the window, not stopping to pick up gentlemen of a certain ethnic group and getting shot for $5 change. Awesome!

I saw this Studebaker at Bromley, I thought this was also one fugly car.

That Stude is one of the very last run-out GT Hawks, and they do look a bit funny, but bare in mind that the basic design dates back to '52. I think Brookes Stevens did the restyle on those, and I reckon he did a pretty good job considering the budget constraints. Funnily enough, Studebaker's advertising of the early-mid 60s made a point that their cars were so modern looking that they 'didn't need a yearly restyle'! Good way to cover the fact that they had no money and no one was buying the cars I guess!

Here's the Raymond Lowey original, i'm sure we can all agree that this is totally gorgeous

Much prettier, It kind of reminds me of an Alfa Romeo Spider/Hillman Minx crossbreed!.

Buick Roadmaster

roadmasters in ls1 engine guise are absolute WMDs!! I'd rock one any day of the week.

The continuous strip taillights on that New Yorker are a master stroke. Always been a big fan of the Precint 13 Ambassador and Used Cars Merc, and in a similar vein, check out Uncle Jessie`s moonrunnin` special in Dukes of Hazard:

I bought THAT box set anticipating lots of stacklight Mopar action but was delighted to discover a huge `71 Custom/Galaxie/LTD presence.

Vic, if you want to see a film with lots and lots of '71 Ford Custom/Galaxie/LTD action, you need to see the Burt Reynolds 1971 classic "White Lightening". Pretty unpleasant beginning, but Burt drives a modded '71 Galaxie with a tuned motor for Moonshine duties. A few others in there as well.

Easily my fave seventies Yank saloon, a fine looker.

Have a few more from the drenchfest that was Wheels day, hopefully next year will be alot better weather wise....

MKIII Conti right? Only ever made as a coupe....

Posted Image

I bet there isnt many De Sotos in the UK, they look brilliant. One of the last ever made as well, wonder if Chrysler will ever bother bringing the brand back....

Posted Image

Mustang III Coupe, they look pretty mean, I quite like them. Obviously not a true Mustang in most peoples eyes, but Id happily have one, in this colour.

Ive forgotten what this is. It looks like it could pass for a Korean car, oddly there is another one local to me.

Is that last one a Buick? I quite like it.

I saw one of these Chrysler Sebring things the other day, it really did look dreadful. Only in America would they name a car that looks like this...

Posted Image

....after a race track! Wonder what the depreciation is like on these....

A mate of mine used to have an '86 Chrysler sedan, with the 440" V8 in it. 145bhp from 7.4L, indeed. He let me have a spin in it once, felt slow, heavy, and damn near unstoppable. According to him, the difference between light throttle use, and heavy throttle use was 15mpg, or 8mpg, and not any great performance.

Having said that, he breaks cars regularly, and the Chrysler stood up to it. Except the bonnet release, which came off in my hand...

His inspiration, was the guy across the road from his folks, when we were yoofs, who had a Chev Monte Carlo, with the 350 in it. The guy worked for British Airways, so had no probs getting tuning bits - it ended up pretty tasty away from the lights!

Surprised no-one's mentioned Bauer Millet's in Manchester: they used to sell Yank GM's officially, mostly Camaros and 'Vettes. When I worked for a Vauxhall dealer, we had a Caprice wagon on our patch, and BM was always the first call for parts for the beastie.

They had swithced to Alfa Romeo last time I trundled over on the Metrolink. Splitters!
