Hi I'm Patrick, 19 years old and this is my first thread! I was welcomed to the forum by member GJR 11L, a former Rebel owner who has given me plenty valuable advice for my Rebel. (met on 3 wheeler forum).

I am an owner of a hand painted purple Rebel saloon =D and starting my own wedding car hire business using a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. Pics to follow and hope to get to know members a little better!

It's good to see a few other Rebel owners on here, especially Minimad who is similar age to me.

I wish it was! Welcome to the site, How can you run the Rolls at your ages, The insurance must be a killer!

Posted

Damn it, thought I edited it in time :(.

Unfortunately at my age, I can't get insurance. I have an older member of the family that is going to drive for me :).

Posted

I did wonder about that. Private hire insurance plus public liability for a 19-year-old driving a 6.8-litre car around - most underwriters I know would just burst out laughing...

Liking the Rebel though. Definitely on my (extensive) list of "cars to own one day".

Transporter is German registered - "D" - and EU will be the district/town it was registered in.

I do apologise for my ignorance, forgive me ;)

It's old fashioned, but one has to laugh at those terrible chavmobiles. 'Turnz heads'.

I wanted to tell about the german truck too, but there is no need to anymore. Only your Porsche Estate is a Porsche Panamera, sold by Porsche as a "Sedan", but it looks like a Corolla Liftback.

Patrick? Patrick, Patrick........ Nope, never heard of you, sorry.

All Purple Ronnie needs now is a Police sign on the roof and he'll look just like a '70s panda car....... If you close one eye and put a 35mm slide of a Morris Minor over the other at a distance of about 50 yards from the car.

Nice spots mate, glad you found this absolutely darza forum, good 'ere, innit?

How did you find the forum John ?

Maybe a new thread is in stall , bet there are some weird stories of how people found it

A fresh thread would be good, but my coming here involved autoshite being the only remaining area of cyberspace that hadn't banned me.

Tasty mate, very tasty.

Couldn't agree more! Although they're probably the same people who think a white Shadow II with alloyz and post-2001 style 'they're good enough for the MOT' plates is classy wedding day transport.

Welcome along Patrick. I havent been here long either - despite the fact I am 34! Anyway, enjoy! :)

Hi Patrick!

I like that light blue MR2, unlike the white hatchbacks I think it looks pretty cool.

I have considered offering my services and my Mercedes W123 for wedding car hire. A couple of hours work at weekends to earn petrol money sounds like fun. A couple of questions for you:

Q1. Would this be considered a decent wedding car: (assume it will be covered with flowers and ribbons)

Q2. What's the going rate nowadays?

Q3. I guess one needs special insurance. Is it expensive?

Posted

Welcome along indeed. I used to be 19 and I can confirm it is a bloody good age to be.

I's rather be 19 on Dad's insurance than 38 on my own!!

That MK1 Scrote I've seen before. It's unmistakably in Halifax there!

And Hipperpottery...something tells me you live in West Yorkshire.

I'm a Wyke man myself. Loving that Rebel.

Forgotten all about this thread, sorry!

The W123, I think would make an ideal second car (for bridesmades etc) but some brides may go for it (Maybe even the groom). For the Roller it's £250 standard rate for 3 1/2 hours, there is nearly always extras on top of that. I'd charge about 175 - 200 for the Merc. Insurance is very reasonable, you pay for either part time or full time wedding liability insurance (on top of normal insurance it's not that much extra). The Roller is about £300 all in with wedding insurance!

Indeed from Halifax! I walked through Wyke on the long march, it took ages!

I have loads more spots coming up.

There's an R33 Skyline there, and that MR2 was a bloody good car too - though mine would be (externally) stock, with dark blue paint. Might see if I could wedge a Subaru flat-six (or at least a Camry V6 a la Evora) in, too, give the Cockster mummies' boys a run for their money...
