Taking the van as extra things to collect won't fit in the car. Van thrown a wobbler already

Potential enlarged prostate incoming, keep of the caffeine.

Proper summer car, well bought.

All safely returned home, Mrs P had the roof down all the way back and absolutely loves it. @garellikatia is an absolute star and top gent to deal with.

Well done to @yes oui si for guessing the car correctly and @Aston Martin for also knowing whereabouts we where.

Even managed to jig the drive parking round and fit it on, theres already four of our cars on the street so didn't want to piss the neighbours off anymore!

Extras and the reason for taking the van.

I'm really going to have to sort the garage out there are far too many sets of wheels in there already!

Scores on the doors at the end of the day for the couriering caddy.

Not too shabby for an old high mileage workhorse with the aircon on all day.

Mrs P is still grinning like an idiot and enjoying our her new motor. V5 turned up today, just the 13 previous owners!

Few little jobs to sort out but nothing drastic, just tidying up the interior really. There is a local guy that breaks these and as luck would have it Mrs P went to school with him so reasonable prices are being mentioned for bits and bobs.

I'll keep the thread running as this car has a good solid history of ownership and work on here, far better than any stamped service book in my mind.

Three weeks into ownership of the SLK and allz gud in da hood, no problems what so ever and Mrs P is still a happy bunny. So happy in fact that she now takes the SLK out instead of her 24 plate MG HS, totally understandable in my mind as the HS is not a particularly nice car to drive, the SLK is much smoother with a far nicer gear change and no annoying driving aids to constantly frustrate you.

As @garellikatia @RichardK @Jim Bell and others have left such a good history of ownership on AS I thought it would be nice to continue it for any further owners down the line.

Alterations have taken place and Pacman has been reinstalled.

A different wind break has been acquired.

Some of the broken tired trim has been replaced and the bonnet pull has been plumbed back in.

There are a few more little jobs to do, fix the reverse lights and the windows close slightly too much which stops them sealing perfectly with the roof, so I'll investigate those another day.

Great to see this is getting more love. The windows sat correct the the first time I had the car, but not the second time.

So it's DEFINITELY SOMEONE ELSES FAULT.

From googling looks like there is a rubber/plastic stop on the glass and they come loose/fall off over time, just got to brave taking the door cards off to have a shufty.

Ahh top work!  Some much needed improvements there!!

13 owners :D Crazy to think how such a small car has brought so much fun and memories to so many different people's lives!

Well the last seven months have flown by, so time for an update on the old girl.

MOT passed earlier this week.

The sill is going to need a little tidy up over summer, but (fingers crossed) I don't think its too bad, so well happy with the pass.

Mrs P has commandeered the car and as she normally does has added her own touch to it.

First off a cheap reg plate, the car is called Bee! Also a chrome front grill.

Next up some interior fettling, Mrs P likes a bit of wood 😂.

The steering wheel was a pig to swap over, everything else was nice and easy though.

When we picked the car up the front windows closed slightly too much, this stops a good seal between the door glass and the roof. The bump stops at the bottom of the glass had fallen off. Door trim off and a bit fiddly, but fairly straight forward to reattach them, popped a little self tapper through the L shaped bracket, with some 3m double sided pads, I don't think its going anywhere now and the glass top lines up spot on with the rubber roof channel.

So overall very happy, the cars not missed a beat. Daughter number 2 has told us we are not allowed to ever sell it, she deffo has her eyes on it, but at 21 years old its strong money for her to insure it in her name and as she keeps pointing out to me, shes just a poor uni student!

Mrs P reckons she has her perfect 2 car set up at the mo, Elgrand for family duties, SLK for fun duties.

That looks very nice with the wood 👌

Thanks - she started off with a stick on kit, it looked a bit meh and wasn't the best fit, so she went and bought the proper Merc trim from the local guy that breaks them. Seems to look better for it.

I forgot a couple of other little jobs that have been done. The washer jets stopped working/never worked, not sure which. The pump was dead, nice and easy to swap out from inside the wheel arch. Also the front fog lights didn't work, the wiring needed a little tidy up and a couple of new connectors splicing in, all up and running again fairly easily.

Just left with the reversing light to fix. Tried all the obvious things, 12v is not getting to the cluster, so it looks like the switch in the selector is dead, seems a common fault and also looks a bit of a twat to change - hence putting it off, it is rather snug in the front for a fat old knacker like me.
