trigger Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Well their certainly different!Personally though I'm not feeling them, They look a bit big, a bit 70's and a bit American for a 80's Jap family car but they might grow on me and it's your car at the end of the day so what i think hardly matters!.
Station Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I'm not feeling them either, but I don't think they look too bad. Just the wrong car I think? I'm not too sure whether I like them or not, I think I do tbh.
barrett Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Are they even legal? I thought tires had to be totally covered by the arches, looks like a good inch or so sticking out at the front..... I do actualy quite like them though
Milford Cubicle Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 They look better than I expected, but a bit dated-looking on an '80s car.I'm still of the opinion that slotmags are naff - the 1970s equivalent of a cheap alloy wheel from Halfords with 8 holes in for multiple fitment.
GJR 11L Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Does it not tramline like a right proper bastard with all of that offset though? I mean, as far as the look goes, then yes, big win, IMHO, though I can see that eating its wheel bearings as it is.As for the legality of it, well a sliver of perspex along the edge of each arch should keep the feds quiet.Great for a drive-by soaking session on a rainy day though.
reallyloud Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I quite like it! Changes the stance of the car - makes the wheel base look shorter than it is. The law is fuzzy with sticky out wheels - the general rule is that the thread must not stick out of the arches but the wheel rim can - this is why all the stretch tyre lads get away with it. I have wheels that stick out, but the thread is *just* under the rims - I suspect it will be 50/50 come MOT time though. Of course sticky out wheels have their own problems - my missus had a good attempt at kerbing my wheels recently.....
brammy777 Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Yeh, I quite like that. Slotmags are one of the wheels which have been used on some pretty ridiculous things over the years, but seemingly this isnt one of them. Gives the fairly subdue T72 styling a bit of an edge, but not overly so. Much better then tiny wheels...
Guest Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Zender Turbos would look the absolute bollocks on a Bluebird. Preferably a white T72 hatch with a dealer fitted bodykit and colour coded wheels to suit.As fer y' mags what, no, not for me for sure, aye.
RedSparrow Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Hey they look pretty good. Sadly I am 99% sure they're not legal!
Richard Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 (and it's TREAD not THREAD)Depends how worn your tyres are.
pandamonium Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 I'll be getting arch extensions, as looking from above it is questionable whether the tread is covered - depends on the position of your head! All it takes is for one disgruntled policeman who is fed up with dealing with stupid Basildon chavs and I'd be in bother. Better safe than sorry! And I realise they look kinda ridiculous - that's the point!I believe your car should be a work of art - and not every person likes every painting.

Your painting is fine, it's the frame that's wrong!
pandamonium Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 Lol. Fair point. I'll just keep working till it looks right cos I love the Bluebird!
Rocket88 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I quite like that, although, for some reason, in my eyes it now looks like a Volvo 340. You could try a bit of arch rolling to get them legal.............
outlaw118 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I like it, AND it makes it stand out from the crowd a bit - and it'll stop me "spotting" it, and putting photos on here now I know it's yours!
pandamonium Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 I've got some smaller tyres on now, 175/65/14 on the back and 165/65/14 on the front. Seems to have done the trick.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Not my cup of tea i'm afraid - looks terrible to me! The Primera steels were better.
dollywobbler Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Yup, not my thing either. It's a bit like putting Minilites on a Primera, or a chrome foglight on a Vectra.
trigger Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Or CB ariel and air horns on a Ferrari Tessarossa.
dollywobbler Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Or CB ariel and air horns on a Ferrari Tessarossa.Actually, if I had the cash, I'd probably do that just for the crack. And fit chrome bumpers, white wall tyres and hub caps.
seth Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 You could fit a bus in the gap between arch and tyre!
whitevanman Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Actually I don't like it in the last 2 pictures, they seem to small now...sorry
