A good deal of time and resources got wasted by several members and myself today trying to identify what the car on the left is, it's now time for yours to be wasted too, what is it ?

Well spotted on the Rovah... it has the info on the tailgate and the rear bumper is also a bit of a giveaway.

We have postulated as to the identity of the other one for a few hours today. We  are kern for the hive mind to produce the goods.

Well my first couple of ideas have fallen at the first and I'm well and truly bugged as the light cluster looks like something I should know. Grrr

It’s a Samara isn’t it? Don’t think you can actually see a tail light, just the flat bit at the rear of the wing.

MGB and a Mk2 Astra?

IMG_8979.jpeg.7d1c6c8d29e5d503fd23e1cc4f94ebd9.jpegCould be. I still think Samara, the weird rain gutter matches too. That being said i’m not sure the quarter window shape matches now. The original pic even looks like it had a bonded in window.

Jesus, thought this going to send me absolutely insane but I reckon I've got it

Gutter trim, and the little seam between the roof and the c-pillar; shape of quarter window, and most of all the plunging roofline. That's it, innit?

Ambassador rear lights are much lower - unless Vulg has owned it at some stage.  Or is the rear wing and light on another car, thus causing (my) visual confusion?Screenshot2023-08-23at22_57_21.thumb.png.5ed5e35131333de7947759aee805dc46.png

That’s not a light cluster - that’s a huge rust patch featuring some impressive holes !

Bloody hell, that's a headscratcher.

So far, I've worked out it could have been (but isn't):

Renault 20, Simca 1100 estate, Renault 16, Hillman Hunter estate or Renault 6.

It's a large hatchback rather than an estate, isn't it? I was convinced it's a 70s French motor, but after seeing the likeness with the Embarrassador, I'm not so sure...

I'm assuming late 60s/early 70s design looking at the skinny C pillar.

I'm pretty confident that's an Austin Ambassador with some rust holes that look like a light cluster recess

The rusty section/light cluster did muddy the water but I reckon I am in agreement re: Ambassador.

Swage line is further from glass.

Yeah, the swage line looks higher on the mystery car. Is there a fuel flap on the mystery car? Difficult to make out...

Having said all of that, everything else does look like a Princess in a frock.
