Spotted this at a used car dealers site in Saltash today, the signs in the windscreen state "Awaiting preperation" and "Small deposit secures this car" I wonder how long it will sit there? It's been a long time since I've seen a tripod device in such surroundings.....

I read somewhere that later Reliants have huge resale value because the old giffers love them so much but stil like to get a 'new' car every few years. Can't be many of that generation of owners left now though. Back in the 90s second-hand Rialtos were going for more than new ones, they literally couldn't build them fast enough.....

I know of 4 local three wheelers, all owned by old folk. In fact, one of them has two, I think he only drives one and keeps the other absolutely immaculate.

A part of me would like to try one, but I really like cornering fast, so I feel that disaster would not be far away. Can't help thinking that a wheel for each corner really is the way to go. Guess automotive evolution eventually proved that too...

At least it's at home alongside the other over-priced shite he has for sale.

Are the late Reliants fuel injected or did they have some swizz to get around emissions regs?

There is an ace rialto round the corner from me, it's got limo tints and slotmags, piloted by some cancerous old fossil who looks like freddy kruger. Class.

They are utterly shite (in a good way). My mate's Dad has one, and a local mentalist has one that's rumoured to have some mad motorbike engine in it.

Is that one of the last ones that retailed for something like £10k when new?

Nowt wrong with 3 wheels so long as 2 are at the front. Tripods are pretty stable, there's a reason they don't have four...

You can corner as fast as you dare in one

See the corner in the photo an imagine the thrill :)

The front of that Reliant kind of looks like a miniature Ford Sierra Sapphire.

This is the previous shape, the last ones had a more modern looking front end. Although yes, this would've probably been about ten bags when it was new. pretty low depreciation really.....

No, they were still carbed, but they were classed as a tricycle rather than a car so weren't subject to the same emissions regulations.
