And tomorrow the Police will be around to arrest you for stealing their keys no doubt... No confidence in the justice system and they wonder why?

Posted

Exactly. Might have known this would happen.

CPS can be a bunch of arseholes. It's not uncommon for them to be staffed by the people that commercial law firms wouldn't touch because they don't have the skills.

Perhaps contact your local paper to express (DYSWIDT?) your disgust, and they can take a picture of you with your arms folded and a grumpy expression... With a broken Transit behind you. You might get some pity from it, or a bag of dogshit on your step, on fire, and the doorbell rung.......

Or maybe next time I will just er sort it out for meself....

Fantastic. Just had a call from the police. Yes, at 10pm. They have told me they have released the two thieving scum without charge, as per the CPS instructions. Unbelievably the officer couldn't believe I was displeased by this. Oh, and they were aloud to drive off in their untaxed, sorn'd van.

Welcome to McBroons Britain. You see you just don't get it! Your unreasonably aggressive behaviour towards two perfectly innocent pet lambs who were only showing a bit of "innishertive" resulted in them losing their liberty for 5 minutes. This was until the CPS ordered their release when it was realised they vote Labour at which point their van was valeted and they were ushered out of the back of the station with profuse apologies, a full tank of diesel and a bit of skunk after promising not to put in a complaint. Meanwhile, the Police will "find the time" from their busy schedule to visit you at 5am tomorrow to charge you with using threatening words and behaviour. You will be released after 8 hours with an official caution and a warning to remove all the "dangerous scrap" from your property within 7 days or face prosecution. And remember..........vote Gordyxxxxxxxx :twisted::twisted:

Eh? What? How did that happen? Surely at least a magistrate's appearence/fine & the usual procedure re. driving an untaxed vehicle. Not cool.
Posted

Unbelievable!, Unless the police are around the corner waiting to catch them red handed in the van?, They might not be able to do anything about the van unless they actually see them driving it so that they have evidence?.Doubt it though, Just a sign of the times i guess.

Posted

The officer tells me that it's not in the police power to seize untaxed vehicles. I can't believe they are getting away with this. Somebody explain to me why we work for a living?

Posted

how far would a modern transit get if it had petrol in the tank instead of diesel? ..........about 300 yards if it's common rail I thinkor maybe a bit further without any coolant in the engine ........

Just read through this thinking good for you.....then that the bastards have walked....or driven...away....What in the hell is the world coming to.... Put piss in the tank as well....

My old work mate who was a bit of a dick (And also the bosses son) drove a Mazda E2200 van, and one day after he gave me the hump at work i shoveled up a dead rat i found and placed it on top of the engine bay which is under the drivers seat in them.He wasn't very happy after driving 1/2 hour home from the site we was working at with the smell of rotting death inside his van, He never knew it was me neither...

after reading page one i thought

nice one Fred.........

.......followed by WTF?

and just to clarify - the procedure is: police arrest, present any evidence to the CPS (i.e. a fresh law graduate, or paralegal secretary) over the phone, then the CPS reply by phone within 2 hours (if no reply, then no charge), the CPS (careless paralegal scrotes) are only interested in obtaining a conviction, if chance of conviction less than 60%, then CPS say drop it.

did the plod take a signed statement from you Fred?

or just ask a few questions?

if no statement was taken from you, then no evidence was offered to the CPS, and so they dropped it.

A few photos of the thieving b'stards, and their loot should be enough evidence, together with your signed statement, to prosecute.

I read a piece on london CPS this morning on BBC website- serious failings was the phrase used

Posted

Yep, they took a signed statement. What exactly was the point though? I copped em at it, they kept saying they rang the door bell (they didn't) but never said (in front of me) that they were ever given any permission to take any of the stuff they loaded on to their van.

We need to start out own sort of Autoshite vigilante group. You can imagine the story.

'A group of known car theives were left reeling last night after being attacked with 'BullworkersTM' by 4 men in beige cardigans who were seen wallowing away from the scene of the crime in a brown Austin Princess. Police are currently looking for the cast of Life on Mars'.

I had some theiving sods come round my mates house a few years ago and they broke in, robbed my wallet with £120 in it (for the first time ever, i never carry that much cash), a £600 watch and stole Paula's car, could not get my Xantia started so rolled it down the hill into the side of someones house.

The police caught them as they were tagged (!) and they knew where they had been, they had some of the stuff (phones etc). But they buggers got let off. I got none of my stuff back and they got away scot free with it.

Couple of month later i got pulled for speeding and got a producer. It was at this point i realised that they had also taken my phocard for my driving licence. Took the paper part to the police station and they said they knew i had a licence but had failed the producer and would be taken to court. Instead of the £60 fine and 3 points i got a £320 fine and 4 points.

Was not best pleased with this, so i wrote a letter to the court with the crime number asking for the names and addresses of the little shits who robbed me and got away scot free, as the law were obviously incapable of keeping these little tossers under control so i was going to take the law into my own hands and murder the scrutters.

About 5 minutes after posting the letter by recorded delivery, i suddenly thought 'Shit, i will probably get done for threatening to kill them now', but surprisingly the court wrote back reducing my fine to the original fixed penalty which was a sort of win.

Fred;Ring your local rag, you'll probably get a fairly sympathetic reporter round your place in minutes!

Posted

I think I will keep my face out of the papers TBH, you never know when anonymity might come in handy.......... Also it's now clear it's pointless involving the police, if all the CPS are going to do is let the little darlings go home, all that's done is stopped the police doing something like breaking into some old dear's house when she's fallen over.

Wow, what an exciting thread! Fair play for taking on the crims and getting them busted like that. What do you expect from the people in charge?Look at it this way, they didnt actually steal anything as you caught them in the act before they could physically take it away. They could have just told the rozzers they got the address wrong, or a "man in the pub" told them the scrap belonged to him and to go and take it. You are not out of pocket so I doubt it would have been classed as anything serious, possibly classified in the same leauge as apple scrumping or something. Little scallywags. At the very least they have been dragged away and arrested for a few hours, had their fingerprints and DNA taken and are now on the police radar, so to speak. So no doubt next time they try something like this and get caught the police will treat it a little more seriously. I really dont understand why they didnt confiscate the van though. Maybe it didnt belong to the wrongdoers to start with? I have to confess, if id been left in charge of someones van who had just tried to nick a load of my stuff it would have either been broken up, weighed in or parked illegally somewhere to ensure it was clamped and towed. To be fair, leaving it well alone was probably the most sensible thing to do. Not the funniest/satisfying though.

Posted

Well theft is theft. Speeding is speeding, or so I thought till now. The police admitted they had no insurance to drive the van, but yet they moved it round the corner.

Posted

As a Londoner you are probably thinking that this "Wouldn't of happened in Reggie and Ronnies day!"

Posted
 well I wasn't till you mentioned it. Being born after they were about, in Sheffield didn't help either.....
Posted

In this computer age do you still get the old 7 day wonder producer ticket things?

Posted

Yeah, or at least you did last year. He had his license on him, the van was on askmid.com as showing insurance. The MOT will be on the PNC so they could have checked that.

What a disappointing outcome to what started off as a great story. What can you do? Makes all these CCTV cameras and Databases seem like a bit of a joke doenst it, you can spend megabucks on new ways to catch crims, but then if youre just gonna let them go when they get caught, the whole lot seems like a bit of a joke. Next time you'll just have to chuck their keys straight down the drain, photograph them on your camera phone and just go back indoors. Or put on a dynamite belt and make a great, final 'complaint' at the local police station.
