Sure is. The 2.0 manual just ain't for me

And when did this happen? Didnt realise you had a mk1 Rover 800. Nowt wrong with the 2.0 manual, I had the 820E whilst it was just plain wrong to have something so underpowered it wasnt that bad, I thoroughly enjoyed having it in my keep. Wouldnt mind having the disposable income and space you have with the amount of cars you keep buying.

I introduced it briefly in the News 24 thread. Didn't want to make a big song and dance about it as I kind of had my suspicions it wouldn't be a permanent member of the fleet. Absolutely LOVE the look and feel of the thing, such a thoroughly British big barge - also makes me feel like I'm in an episode of Police Stop! But the Honda V6 matched with an Auto box would just make the thing sooooo much more pleasurable. This is my first taste of old British cars and it has certainly done its job in leaving me wanting for more... Very, very impressed by the 800, I can see why they have you hooked. I actually prefer it to the Citroen XM now that I've driven both...

I see that caddy lad's obligatory 'no fat chicks' sticker has the word 'chicks' spelt wrong, what a fanny

Right, been over to see this today, it's at a Jaaag specialist in Kirkstall, Leeds. It's quite an honest old thing, but not without its minor faults. First and formost, it will need a screen, it's de-laminated on the top os corner, and it cracked down the ns. It's not been on the road since August last year (which is when the last MOT ran out) it has every MOT, and most of the tax discs, it even has the "Introduction to your Rover Sterling" Cassette tape in the glovebox!!!

The interior is in great nick. but it does smell a little musty, it runs ok, and have no reason to doubt the 70k being original, it's backed up by the MOT's anyway. Goes into gear ok, and stops. Would need the brakes servicing as the discs are corroded. It appears to have had some cosmetic paint, but is straight sided and has a minor rust bleb at the back of the NSR Wheelarch. The Sills look a tad grotty on the flanges, so it may need some minor welding here, I didn't want to paoke around too much as I have no intention of buying it. It was traded in against another Rover, and the owner of the garage has taken pity on it and is giving it a stay of execution for the next couple of days MAX! If anyone is interested you need to get in quick, as the bridge beckons. He is a busy little outfit, and has minimal storage in his compound so needs it out of the way. He understands that it's worth not far of the asking price as frag fodder, so I don't think there would be much movement on the price. You can contact him direct on 0113 2743362

I could possibly store it for anyone interested for a week or so, as I have a spare space in my parking, but any potential buyer would need to pay for it first, and cover transport costs to my address. (Minimal as I only live a couple of miles away.) And also pick it up ASAP, PM me for my details.

To summarise it's not a bad old thing, and quite savable, but wouldn't be back on the road with just spit and polish.

R9UKE, I've pm'd you my details already.

What a twat.

I actually felt the need to email the seller...

Dear yelmirb,

Just trying to work out "NO FAT CHiCS" means on the door as it makes no sense.

Chic:

1.attractive and fashionable; stylish: a chic hat.

2. style and elegance, especially in dress: Paris clothes have such chic.

3.stylishness; modishness: the chic of the firstnighters.

4.casual and understated style, as in dress or décor, that expresses a specified trendy lifestyle or activity: Black-rimmed glasses bring some geek chic to your outfit.

So are you say you want no fat fashionable people in your works truck?

in which he's replied:

Yes NO FAT CHICs, proof is in the pudding literally... If ur fat do not get in the truck as extra weight will cause dramatic scraping!! Hope I could be off assistance....

He's obviously mentally retarded.

If he went for a tattoo, he'd come back with this:

Fly to Cyprus, say hello to Eddy as he collects you at the airport, chat about shite as he drives you to the sellers house, hand over 800 euro-groats and drive this back!

Write epic tat-collecting thread then sell fro massive scene-tax roof-rack based profit.

Certainly, happy to help. :D But bloody hell, I so wish I'd seen this when I still had cash! Alternatively, I so need someone to buy my Granada, like in the next ten minutes! Limassol's only the next city, I can be there in an hour.

I thought it said "No Fat Chips" Perhaps he's a gourmet French Fries person

I've seen that Caddy on the road a couple of times, last time was on my way home from work a couple of days ago. OK, it's not to everyone's taste, but it does give you a WHOA! moment among the sea of silver Audis...

That BX looks like a 16v - in which case it's bargainous - though I'd expect it to be a Phase 2 (different spoiler) for a 1991. Still value for the miles and apparent condition!

I thought it was a valver too. Badges on the C pillar and all...

Re. the spoiler - early '90s Ireland was a place where people bought BXs in 1.4 or turbodiesel form. The dealer or distributor might have had this sitting around for a while.

The good thing about it being an original Irish car is that it wouldn't have been exposed to road salt.
