It's Friday the 13th, what could possibly go wrong? 8)

That is a massive bargain at £2.5k with 44k miles. The 2.0 DynamIque is shit though. When you're buying a car like that is HAS to be an automatic V6 cruiser with all the toys (half of which won't work, but it's nice to have the buttons to look at). Love that colour though.

Definitely Marmite cars....I love the look of it.

It's a pity they couldn't have got Nissan to supply the rest of the bits ;)

To bring it up to first class condition it will require a little paint work as there are a couple of rust bubbles starting to come through and a few cracks in the body kit.

I will presume its got a full years tax and MOT seeing as you have not bothered to mention that at all. Undesirable carb version too, sounds well worth £8k.

Its got a VW TDi engine!

THE ROVER ENGINE, GEARBOX, IRD BOX, PROP-SHAFT, REAR DIFF, HALFSHAFTS ETC, HAVE ALL BEEN REMOVED AND DUMPED IN THE BIN WHERE THEY BELONG! When the engine was fitted. They would only regularly break anyway, so might as well go, its now much lighter for it now. REAR WHEELS ARE NOW FREEWHEELING AS PER A NORMAL CAR ONLY TWO WHEEL DRIVE

Wow, sounds absolutely GREAT*

HOWEVER HERE's the BUT - I have been told the head gasket might need doing soon.

Arf! He'd have been better off keeping the bombproof L-series.

That's BRIGHT. Cheers for the info I've got to own one of these at some point and when I do you'll be getting pm'd to death.

Who at Renault thought that having to take the engine out to change the cambelt was an acceptable procedure? No wonder they're in the shit.

Many moons ago a mechanic told me that you had to remove the engine on a 2CV in order to change the points?

Perhaps its a French thing?

Clutch change on a Sherpa coupe is best done by removing engine...same as most 70's and 80's Subuarus.

Shudder. Memories that have remained buried for years...:-)

Aye but you can get the engine out of a sherpa coupe in a couple of hours without any previous mechancal experience using just a £9.99 tool kit from Wilko's.

Cautionary tale about ebay & paypal ...

Bizarre story you may have

heard...

An eBay seller recently sold an antique

violin for about 2,500 (doll-ars).

But when the buyer got it, they

questioned its authenticity.

Apparently, this is a really nice

violin that even made it "through

World War 2".

The problem is that a lot of

violins have disputed 'labels' -

it doesn't necessarily mean they

are 'counterfeit', but the buyer

disputed the origins of the violin.

Regardless of where this or any other

'old' violin comes from, it still might

be a valuable piece - especially if

it's been around for about 80 years!

Anyway - there was a dispute of some

sort.

But here's the rub...

As soon as the words 'counterfeit'

were mentioned, then the Paypal

'machine' went into overdrive.

In order for the buyer to be

'protected' and get their mon-ey

back, Paypal made the buyer DESTROY the

violin - literally smash it to

pieces!

And then send a photo of the

crumpled mess!

This was crazy, as the violin was

still valuable - it was still a

'work of art'.

The seller is now out of their cashola -

AND their violin.

So where am I going with this?

Firstly, for certain products, you're

better off selling them 'in person' -

get the person to come and look at it,

then don't use Paypal if possible.

Use cheque or cash.

This applies to all items of high

value (over 1K for example).

Secondly, be careful with 'the machine'.

What I mean here is the tendency to

revert to 'rules and regulations' instead

of using plain ol' common-sense.

This is the perfect example.

Paypal are notorious for this.

But you might even see it one day in

your own business.

We all need rules and regulations to

abide by, to get employees to follow

a certain line.

But it's when these rules and regs

get in the way of common-sense that

the problems can start.

Do you, perhaps unwittingly, have

rules and regulations that could one

day create problems?

If you have staff, then it's worth

thinking about.

Regardless - be careful selling anything

of serious value using Paypal.

ESPECIALLY if it's a brand of some sort,

or easily damaged!

Use eBay to find the buyer, but then

work out how to mitigate your risk from

then on...

Anyone who sends £2500 by paypal to pay for a 'historically significant' 'antique' violin bought off eBay deserves everything they get!

That Ambassador is near me, however I already have one project on the go and don't have the space.

If someone on here gets it and needs help with transport etc then let me know.
