How fit is this? I don't recall ever seeing a real (non-metallic) beige one before. Beige inside too. Cheap insurance and tax, how much better does it get?

MOT and Road Tax expired, as sadly has owner.

I'd be all over this like a rash if I wasn't about to leave the country. I have a breaker in the field all ready for it, too.

As Martha and the Vandellas have now admitted they meant to say: winter’s here, and the time is right – for buying a shite old ragtop for under 500 notes.

There was one of these dumped at the overgrown back of a car park up the road from me for two years. When they finally hiab-ed it, half a tree and a great length of rotten fence came up with it. This one’s only £399, but the MOT runs out in May, so you’ll be weighing it in just as the sun comes out. Possibly sooner, what with these being so very horrible.

“will make a nice car with a small amount of tlc or use as isâ€Â

Let’s face it, mate, we’re deep into “use as is†territory here. Decent test, leather, £450.

For £490, this looks pretty clean – whilst retaining its vital anti-exotic undesirability. June ticket.

Hello there, little guy! No one seems to like these much, but I think they cut quite the dash with the top down. Even in - shudder - “salmon metallicâ€Â. £495, long test.

Not sure I could face a Golf convertible from this era, but £495 seems cheap for this tidy 2-litre job (unspecified MOT-length notwithstanding).

That’s better. Only a 1.4, but I’d happily trundle about in this for a summer. Seat covers should respond well to accelerant and matches. £500, 8 months test.

Mrs would choose the Golf :( , but since I'm going to be driving it would have to be the salmon 306. I had one as a holiday rental years ago and thought it was GR9. 8)

Not sure where to put this, possible more a "bargain" thread....

It's basically a Mark one Escy van, for £6k, ending soonish. BUT WAIT!!!

fully rebuilt with 3.9 polished and ported heads big cam lightend flywheel ect ect ect with a compression ratio of 7/1 and producing around 350 BHP,

It's also got....

The turbo is a garrett t4 i think, with a large front mounted intercooler.

Theres no mention of brake upgrades though, which is a worry.

Buy it... un "rally" it. Make it look like any other povvo spec escy van. Upgrade brakes. Go Barry Hunting.

There is a very dead one round the corner from me which is even more beige, from memory. I should get a photo I guess.

I spotted that Escort van a while back. Didn't twig that there was something special under the bonnet though...

In the Autoshite Motors Ltd calendar, here’s Miss October. £285 with a longish test.

They’re almost giving these things away now. £495 with a huge MOT. Pre 2001 (by an obvious distance), so death-by-VED not an issue.

This V8 730 looks absolutely tip freaking top, with full history and loads of test. Courtesy of some unfathomable engine-management issue it occasionally runs on 4 cylinders and is therefore being given away for a handful of magic beans (£390).

Half a dozen dents and scratches. Back window will need seeing to as it stops 2 inches from the top.

That’s the stuff. MOT till June, £490.

Cheapest automatic car in the country with an MOT!

Long MOT too. Sit in that big leathery indoors and forget that your outside corners are held together with gaffer tape and wob-doused Weetabix. £220.

In other news, I’ve had it up to fuggin here with those jokers who clog up pricewise Autotrader shite-trawls by listing their motors at like £250 and then putting “ACTUAL PRICE £3,950†in the ad. I’ve got a mind to advertise a few £999 Mexicos using their phone numbers. Chuff-shufflers.

I'd like to celebrate the return of HHH, his average post quality is 76 CARAT!

Thanks, Lt Col Bolax. Can’t really celebrate my own return as it’s been brought on by having a load of work that I don’t want to do. Be assured that in my posting absence I have read EVERY SINGLE PAGE of this thread, which still reliably engorges my frenum.

Every panel a different shade of T-Cut pink and a world of pez-pissing sloth with the NASP/slushbox combo– but for £350 I totally fricking would.

A Daewoo Leganza; the shiter’s shite. Look at that dash-fan and try to picture the pallid, hopeless face it’s been wisping its feeble worst into – YOUR FACE. £350, long MOT.

76k, supa clean, full ticket, £450: you won’t find a better 1990 Cavalier CD 2.0i automatic within 59 miles of my house.

That 940's more or less the same spec as The Volvo, but The Volvo is in somewhat better condition

As for the Cavalier (which appears to have been supplied by the now-defunct Queen's Motor Co in Ramsgate, a dealer not a million miles away from where I grew up), DO WANT! :D

Wave bye bye to 50K super saloons with this unassuming copper spec Vectra-

Fleet car looks - SRI Bumpers, mid spec wheels

Hair on fire performance - VXR 2.8V6 280bhp

These handle quite well dispite being FWD (ignore the bollocks on TopGear) plus the MAX 155mph gentlemans agreement was ignored by GM. So long suckers!

Popular @ 133k but its Ex-OB so has been meticulously maintained. JUST £3295

Turd blowing Monty. Imagine how many of these would be still knocking around if Land Rovers had been made with decent engines...

EFA and all that jazz.

Meanwhile, how about this for a recovery truck?

Actually, knackers to the above. THIS is the truck you've been waiting for...

I reckon the headlights used on these trucks were actually some sort of ex-WW2 spotlights that could pick out a Messerschmitt at eleven million feet.

Thing is, AG, you'll go there for the VW goldmine and come back with THIS:

Holly Moley. I have images of me heading out there with the best intentions but waking up on the floor with a mouth full of vodka sick, keys to this in one hand and my Camper money vacant from the other... Bad times

Bloody hell, I would, on that Daewoo! I drove one like that when they were launched and was most impressed. That's even the right colour. Shame it's not next summer.....
