Those look like Maxi rear lights.

But skinnier. Like a french lady compared to a british one!!

My dad had a 304 estate sometime between the MK2 Escort Ghia, which I have vivid memories of, and the brand new AX* bought in 1989.

I can only just remember the 304 being the mankiest turquoise, but apart from that it didn't leave much of an impression. In fact I can probably remember the GS courtesy car we had for a day because the wrong AX was delivered.

* Isn't it funny how back then my folks were going from an Escort to an AX when their kids were a 9yo and twins aged 6. Nowadays you are expected to buy a 7 seat people carrier because you're pregnant with your first child!. The AX was still taking a family of 5 plus a fox terrier on week long camping hoildays when I was 13!

Instant RATLUK on that 304. If it was a VW etc etc etc.

:D

I remember an oldish chap in the small town where I grew up having a real tidy champagne coloured 304 estate when I was a kid, quite a late one as I recall (could it have been V-reg??). My mum knew him, I think she'd worked worked with him ages before. The car always fascinated me because it was the only one I'd ever seen. Probably the last one I ever saw in fact.

Yes, several times but not to worry.

Eh?

"We acquired this outstanding French automobile at an estate auction of a deceased dentist who was a friend of our family. He had no relatives and left his entire estate to the Southern Baptist Mission Board. At the auction, the car wasn't bringing what my wife and I thought it should, so we brought it home. The dentist purchased the car new, and it stayed in his garage for 31 years. We really can not afford to keep the car because of our family situation; however, my wife really loved the dentist who owned it and has an emotional tie to this vehicle. In other words, we are not going to accept a low bid."

And right now, there's a lot of people who just need basic transportation to take them through the winter.

At Hirst Used Autos, we take in thirty or forty cars a week that maybe we'll sell for one or two hundred dollars, up to three hundred dollars.

1962 Buick LeSabre

If you need just basic transportation - cars that maybe have some dings and bangs, but could run through the winter, come to Hirst Used Autos at Vagabond Park.

Posted

IIRC they didn't do a 5ltr Trans Am ? Either the fat Olds engine (6.6 ?) or the 4.something (Again, iIRC) with about 120bhp and I'm not joking...

Posted

It's a 4.9. I like the late ones with the square lights, you get all the 70s styling but with a mad front.

Posted

Hi very interested in that Le Sabre. Could you guarantee it won't break down or need any repairs in the next year? Also if I win can you please deliver it to me. Thanks in advance.

Posted

Yes, give me all the money in cash up front and I'll do all of whatever it is you said.

Posted

That looks identical to a Cortina '80 dashboard anyway so you're off to a winner. Just all those oily bits to sort.
