Comes with two trophies. I'd imagine (despite what the vendor says) one is for 'Biggest Twat in Stafford' and the other for 'the most trips past McDonald's with his arm out of the window'.

Looking at that interior, how the fugging hell are you supposed to drive it? Is that a speaker where the steering wheel should be? And where is the speedometer? :?

The speedometer has been replaced by a more important instrument - a BASSOMETER which is permamently OFF THE CLOCK!

MINI METRO CITY X

WHITE

27000 MILES FROM NEW.

I PURCHASED THIS METRO A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO PURELY FOR THE ENGINE, AS I WAS UNABLE TO FIND A LOW MILEAGE ENGINE OUT OF A CAR FOR MY MINI PROJECT.

Having learnt to drive in a 1.0 Metro which seemed pretty nippy to me and able to keep up in traffic. Is a 1 litre engine not enough for a mini!!

I have already had someone asking me if I would sell the Allegro for the engine - I told them I would only ever sell it to an Allegro enthusiast!!

I wonder how many decent cars have lost their live's for a Mini "Project" over the years?. Twats.

Why do you think BMC 1100s are so rare these days? (well, ok, rampant rust too!). Metro is only the most modern version of the Mini engine donor. Then you've got K-Series powered vehicles these days too. Had a rant about engine donors on the inside back page of Classic Car Buyer recently. Really does my head in. In almost every case, the engine is taken from the better vehicle to make a shitter vehicle quicker. No, I don't want a 'red top' in my Nova, I'd rather have a Cavalier. Yes, your Pug 205 might be quick with a 16v lump in it, but I'll take the Citroen BX every time. Minis are crap - I'd rather own a beige Metro.

Its almost a shame you can't list cars like you can old buildings - suppose that would be going a step too far though!!

I guess I had the last laugh when my Maestro 1.3L was bought by someone wanting an engine for their Mini. Well, I wasn't going to tell them...

I work in Stafford. How have I missed this fine example of automotive art...?

A few years back i'd have been all for pillaging metro engines for minis, it makes sense to be fair, remember that there used to be millions of the things rotting away like a bastard on every street corner waiting for their next pair of front wings to be fitted.

But now theyre pretty rare, and pillaging a 27k-mile Metro to put the engine in a mini is bad form, you just know that the mini is going to be a wobbed-up old shitheap (they almost always are).

Saying that, could you put something better in the engine bay of that Metro? Like a Nissan Micra 1.3 engine or something maybe. I know that the bodyshell does not lend itself well to this sort of stuff as few other engines are as deep yet narrow as a gears-in-sump tranverse A.

Metros have a front subframe so I suppose a bit of inner wing hackery is possible.

I have stripped a couple of Allegros that had been raped of their power plants, both were donated to Allegro club members FOC and both were rotted out shitheaps with months left to live anyway.

Posted

Its fair enough if the car is rotten but a ripping the engine out of a sound 27k Metro and putting in a structurally dubious Mini seems a bit pointless to me!

Thats lovely - I do love the colour of Vauxhall interiors from this period!

I like Mini's but i've got to ask if you re read your post you could apply that to a Mini too, with the addition of A panels, rear subframes, doors, wings and front panels to say nothing of the floors..

Why can't these fu@#ing idiots have their Mini engines reconditioned (**) and uprated with secondhand/ reconditioned parts,

**I'm sure everyone on here is aware that the A series isn't difficult to take apart and recon, it's ohv ffs so it's not gonna cost a fortune in reconing or parts.

1981 ad. campaign slogan 'Now were motoring' .... and now?

Another waste of a Metro, Sir Michael Edwards would be turning in his grave.........

If he were dead.

It's very red!, Quite surprisingly it's up to £2000 already!, I hope that means it won't now get striped down for a red top to be fitted as it's GR8 4 DRIFTIN.

I hope so too.

Yet another car which people don't seem to be able to leave alone!!
