Ebay Tat Volume 2 - Sadly deceased.

yeh, if he tries to destroy the cars then he's only opening up himself to a load more hassle. Taking someone's property and then destroying it is asking for the fuzz to come down on you. Anyway I dont see how ebay puilling his listings will cause him to react like that....

Posted

They can't do it legally, but they can't steal stuff either, yet it happens. If it happened in this case, yes NB would get compensation (or at very least be awarded it) but he's still down a lot of cars.

Posted

What would you value the cars at anyway? By law a bailiff cannot over levy on a debt.

Posted

Yes, but a bailiff when confronted by any dusty old car that isn't obviously of value (like a ferrari or jagular) will simply value it in terms of scrap tonnage, surely...?

Posted

No, they cannot LEGALLY. However, 1x squishing section, load them onto a truck, over the bridge, cash in hand. They stop chasing the debt. "cars, what cars?"It's already clear that these are people who either do not understand or follow a set protocol...

It's a bit hard for him to pull the old 'cars? what cars?' line though when the pictures have been on the internet.

Can't we atleast get someone to bid with alot of nice feedback, then find out the location to pay cash in hand (if that is an option)Then get Mr B. . (that is the owner of the cars ?) ... to roll up with the keys and documents, and take them away ?

Posted

Maybe but not always. Mind you, you'd be surprised how little your "Household, personal and electrical goods" are worth at public auction.

Posted

Just got the automated reply from ebay saying they can't actually do anything if someone is selling stolen goods unless the police get involved

To be honest if a warrant HAD been issued the first thing I would of done is turn up at Mr Bickles home address and lobbed a clamp on his non-shite car to get an immediate reaction.Edit: But I am a cunt and yes, I did own a BMW.

Anyone had an email off the seller yet?

Posted

funnily enough, he just sent me this''yes you are correct these cars are not mine i am the agent for the bailiff but you all ready know that nigel''so I guess i'm gonna have to send him one that starts 'Dear Nigel...'

Posted

Er.. no! The only people who are agents for bailiffs are locksmiths, car recovery companies and the like! Where does this wanker get his info from? The only way he can be an agent for the bailiffs is if he is a self employed bailiff himself. For all we know he may of been up before a judge in robes, posted a notice of intent in the local paper and fronted £10k of his own money in a security bond, had a full CRB and financial check... Fucking doubt it though.

im strangely attracted to this

My reply is "no paperwork as stated in ad the car belongs to the bailiff to sell thank you ". I asked about the 21 Turbo.

I'm interested to see which bailiff would put his name to this. You have every right to ask before bidding.

I have to say I'm with Pog on this - I would tend to avoid getting involved in the whole "bailiff" situation and potentially stirring up even more shit. My inclination would be to let Mr. Bickle deal with this himself, in his own way - for one thing he has more experience with the legalities of this kind of situation than most of us, and for another thing, as Pog suggests, if the "seller" is forced to remove the cars from eBay he might attempt to weigh them in (although this is a lot harder to do these days without any paperwork) or just smash them up out of spite.

Walkthroughs are great. Proper old school commercials - noisy, heavy and uncomfortable but there's something no-nonsense about them which I really like. The Perkins 4.236 is pretty much unburstable, too, and they're not overly slow - acceleration is on a par with something like an early '90s Merc 609D, although top speed is limited as the 4.236 runs out of revs quite quickly. You can sling them into corners surprisingly quickly too, as long as you can hold onto the steering. If I had anything man enough to tow that thing home I'd be seriously tempted to have a bid.

Do you not think that by making the guy aware we know he is selling goods which arent his is hopefully going to stop him?

I'm not offering advice, I'm just pointing out the way things should be done if they are to remain legal and above board.

I am hoping (going on what Nigel said in his post) that the situation will be sorted long before those auctions end.I don't know how much difference making the guy aware is going to make - there are probably only a few dozen people who read this thread, compared to the millions who go on eBay motors. The guy will probably think (in fact it looks like he does think, going on one of his responses) that we are all Nigel trying to make trouble for him, which is probably going to get him more pissed off than he is now.
