Whoever decides what they really want to  do is be the passenger in sidecar racing? It’s mad.

There's a distant echo in here

Yeah, I've not been paying attention again. Or just forgetting things more like. That's how it is now.

In my defence people do like posing in front of rally cars so there is an awful lot of material out there for this thread.

They do it off road around here - I agree - a bit mad. They tend to come past us on a 30mph road section (so not timed/racing) and the dudes (and dudettes) in the sidecars always seem to be standing up and counting their limbs. If all present they stretch them all out and start looking for wounds.

This should be one for the 'Forgotten TV' thread.  Kookie from 77 Sunset Strip.

Didn't he drive a Tbird?

I'm not sure, I do remember seeing him in the rod to this day. He worked for the detective agency, but I don't know what the main partners drove.

Edit: Just checked and yes there was a Thunderbird driven by the main partners.

I had a go at being the passenger at sidecar trials once. It lasted all of about 10 yards after I lent the wrong way and pulled the combination on top of me and the pilot. He wasn't to pleased so I didn't get another go.

The T-Bird was Stu Baileys (Efrem Zimbalist Jr.) car. He was a private detective.

Kookie (Edd Byrne) was a parking attendant and the neighboring jive bar, Dino's.

The car was built in 1953 by Norm Grabowski, and the car featured in Life Magazine before being used in the TV show.

The car disappeared for almost 50 years but was rediscovered and sold by Mecum Auctions in 2018. It has since been restored and shown at the Pebble Beach Concours
