He's sat on a MZ ES250 Trophy; but being a typical youth he doesn't know how good he's having it. MZ were by far the best East European manufacturer noted for their reliability and quality. But MZ's have never won any beauty contests and the ES range were the ugliest of the lot and he's probably thinking about the trendy bikes from the west - BSA C15 anyone? Careful what you wish for...

The smaller bikes in the photo, Simsons, run a close second to MZ in the best East European race and actually stood up very well to their western equivalents in the looks stakes hence the smug look on the lad on the lefts face.

Aftermarket crossflow head?   The names that come to mind are Alexander, and Arden, but there were (and are) others.
