Great photos RL, I do like the variety of cars on display there. I like that Acty, and I also like the Prelude. Until you see one, its quite easy to forget how small they actually are, not so keen on the alloys but they could be a whole lot worse.

Shit. Yeah I know that - I forgot to change the caption. Its Simca 1000 Rallye - the quality controls continues to slip....

Don't worry, I have a model of a Simca 1000 right in front off me and i still didn't know that was a 1000.

Good day out, a bit different and I really think this is the way forward for car shows - certainly for me anyway.

Have to be honest. I was a bit disapointed with it. There were some nice cars there but the vast majority were modernish VWs and there just didn't seem to be that many people about. Certainly from a traders perspective it was a waste of a day for various reasons - more of which later.

I do like the idea of the show though and hope it succeeds - in five years this could be a very big, very good show if the promoters persevere with it. This weekend was the first time it had really been done - they did hold it last year but the weather was terrible and that killed it. They did say it probably wouldn't happen this year but must have changed their minds. Spoke to a few other traders who hadn't really done much either.

Not a bad show, could but good in a few years though.

Well, after moaning about Bromley, I still decided to go. The attraction of possibly the biggest collection of classics in the south and its easy to get to location swung it for me. The weather held out and I have to say I had a good day. I took photos of about 400 cars - roughly about a third of classic in attendance.

Trigger had a neat spread of cars in his thread, so I'll only post a few select ones now and maybe a few more later on.

Usual trawl of car park fodder:

Then a selection of show cars, including the usual heavy Ford content:

This limited edition model is said to be the last Cortina Huntsman in existance - they made Escort versions in the same colour.

I did't think they actually made these - I know the mk1 Mexico was made as an estate though.

American - or maybe Canadian spec Cortina.

Early performance Dolomites were badged as 135, they became Sprints not long after this car was registered.

Quite a fine selection, thanks for posting them up !

That Wartburg looks abit wrong in estate version

God knows how you manage to see all this top drawer shite! Great selection, the Sierra is fantastic, as is the Montego saloon. Quite a few Montegos and Maestros seem to have missing indicator glass dont they?

Posted

Were the two Crayford Allegros in the same place that LankyTim built his Meastro van trailer?

Yup. thats the place, joncedrics place - Jons ventured into BL shite now!

This lot of snaps are a couple of months worth, but I think was particularly lucky with this selection.

Hard to pick a favourite. Nice to see that Kadett is so fay unmessed with.

Wow, great pictures. For me I'll have the Red Escort, 2.3 Sierra Ghia, Montego, Peugeot 505 and the BMW 3-series cab.

Yep, they're not very well made hence the lense always eventually falls off. Was given a brand-new indicator for my Rover, few days later the lense fell off.

Not Hillman Imp but Simca (Don't know model  )

It's a 1302 Rallye. I raced one at Retro Day in the C4. I can confirm that they're faster past 55 mph, annoyingly. I got a decent start off the line though.

Posted Image

Aaaargh.

At this point I just dropping back, way past the power band in second. I shifted up into third and he slowly pulled away. Says a lot for how crap the power to weight ratio of the Citroen is.

BTW Station, your Blaupunkt was in the boot when I did that.

Superb selection of stuff there. White R5 looks like it hasn't got long left until it meets its fate.

Nice spots. That 505 looks a bit spesh in maroon, mauve, whatever colour it is.

Tenious link to Simca racing and an excuse for me to show the results of my efforts on sunday at Thruxton. Glad I went, instead of watching the collosal failure of the England football team. it was certainly more exciting. I took a tripod this year and was rewarded with a better percentage of decent shots.

Very tastefully finished golf.

This won one of the races. the owner used an Imprenza as a tow car and despite the weight of the Dolomite, trailer and spare tyres it made rapid progress on the back road from Andover to Newbury.

Posted Image

I saw this race last year, but this year suffered from mechanical issues.

All the 3 above cars competed last year - the driver of the stunning XJ6 is an excellent driver and knows how to handle the car.

That XJ6 really talks to me though

Thanks minimad5. Quite enjoyed snapping away - pretty much filled up a 4gb card! Hopefully next time I'll find a better vantage spot - i would have prefered to have had cars come towards me.

Here's a selection of car spotted in London.

Always thought these were great looking cars, pick up conversion looks pretty convincing.

Posted Image

Looks a lot earlier than the plate suggests - maybe the owner retro fitted the chrome.

Always a few of these hanging around - when i was kid during the early 80's we occasionally travelled into London and I always remember seeing loads of these tough cars.

Don't know much about pre war American cars, but this is neat looking car - love the headlamps.

Bizarre Japanese manufacturer infamous for using exisiting Japanese cars and styling them to look like old jags. They did several versions of these cars - this one is based on the early 90's Nissan Crew - kind of a purpose built taxi. Other versions are considerably less restrained in their styling.

Crying shame to see that 6.3 Merc in that state.

FRED ALERT! The indicators are wrong on that Transit.

Thanks minimad5

No problem, just showing appreciation.

Another good batch.

Sure that Mk1 Fiesta has incorrect seats, being the L spec they came standard with the "A" headrests .. no ?

That Amazon / 122 is really nice, huge want for one recently.

Shame about that 240GLT, looks like it has been drifting and hitting everything !

Thanks again for sharing the snaps.

Mind if i save a few?
