I vote for the E30. As long as it's not a total shitheap, it shouldn't be too hard to shift on when you get sick of digging it out of the snow this winter!

Rowe 75 Ian, you would be mad not to, or possibly just mad,

Wover here an all ..

Will make a nice tool for visiting London Village...

Alternatively, hold on to the Rangie until the first snow arrives and then sell it for upwards of 1500 quid...

Took up the trim around the handbrake since the light is stuck on, only to find a complete set of house keys and a wedding invite. Odd thing is the only way they could have gotten there was if the pocket had been removed first.

Then it occurred to me that the light is also for the brake fluid level, which was on the minimum. Problem solved (presuming it isn't leaking)

Yeah, the non-working heater may affect that possibility! Whereas if I've got a fully kitted Jeep...

Rover is appealing as well though. Will see how that pair affect my insurance...

Some strange sort of swinging invite? Perhaps the previous owner wanted you to find them and come on over for some shenanigans?

Jeeps aren't bad. If it's a 4.0 you'll be getting bugger all to the gallon though. 14-15 in town, 18-22 on a run. The diesel is a rough old dog.

Well, Rover's coming up as cheaper to insure, and it's the one I probably most want to own. I reckon values for the diesels are unlikely to get much lower as well - 620 diesels (also on my watch list) certainly fetch more than the non-turbo petrols. I'll keep you posted...

My youngest daughter is ecstatic about her Rover 75.

It was discovered recently that a common fault is that if run low on diesel it damages the lift pump.

It still works but reduces performance a bit - no more tyre screeching takeoffs.

A replacement lift pump fixes that.

She has complained that my C5 accelerates better* than her '75 and this is probably why.

Cheap fix.

*probably the only thing it does do better, apart from having more loadspace (estate).

Ian do you not think the 75 swap to good to be true - they sell easy all day long... I can see the other swaps making sense, but do you think the 75 might be a case of its going, quick out it? We all do it :lol: Have the Jeep and sell it a Christmas...

I've got someone coming from Norwich tomorrow morning to view the Kadett... :?

I'm a bit nervous as it's going to be for a 18 year old to replace his Peugeot 106, Not ideal, I hoping the lad is a Angrydicky/BMC Dan type who knows about classic cars and how to look after then rather then a lad who just wants to use and abuse it.

I'm starting to worry about selling it now.

Fingers crossed its a classic car type as its a beautiful car and I would hate to see it sticker bombed and hit with da stick.

Oh I dunno. I reckon it'd suit black'n'silver plates, Manta alloys, massive modern bucket seats, "Red Top" and a foot or so of lowering.

The rusty bonnet and roof rack is going a bit far.

That's just what my worry is, I've spoke to his dad who sounds decent enough, He's coming down with his son in the morning to take a look but is having problems getting insurance on it at the moment.

I've decided it'll be the 75 subject to us both agreeing after a tyre-kicking session tomorrow. It's high miles at 191k, so that will harm its value even if I am absolutely fine with that. Funnily enough, his mate who owned it previously DID run it low on fuel, and he's ended up replacing both fuel pumps (engine and tank) as a result, even though just one of those would probably have sorted it. I'll have to remember to stick to the 1/4 tank rule...

More news tomorrow evening. Just hope the 75 doesn't utterly win me over. Plan is to run it until I get the BX in a far better state.

Grab the money and run as you will forget about it when you move on to your next car. You had a good time with it and if it ends up as a drift slag - matt black low rider then so be it. Bet the insurance problem is that they have never heard of one as they will be 23 year old vectra drivers

Aye, I know what your saying but i get a bit attacted to my cars, Even though i get bored quickly and want to change them i still feel that i have a care of duty that the new owner looks after them, It would break my heart if i saw photos of it wrapped around a lamp post on a winters evening.

It hasn't sold yet so they might not buy it but if they do then i wonder what i should buy next...

Am currently sat on a train on my way back to Norwich, having failed once again in my quest to own a roadworthy DS. Appears the fuel pump has died & it wouldnt go. Seller is going to try & get it sorted next week so may still end up buying it. Or I could in back down with the Facet pump off the Volvo, but its a bloody long way to go just to try it. Is it worth trying to get a Shiply quote or is having it transported likely to prove uneconomical?

Bottom of the OSF wing on my beemers a bit rotten , I can buy a whole new wing for £60 ish but in true autoshite style ive welded a patch on and gobbed it over with seam sealer and underseal :D

I agree Norm, Normally i don't give a fuck but with the Kadett i do, It's the first car I've ever had that's really been a social thing for me, Going to shows in it with the family and magazine features plus it has such a good history that you really care for it.

Reading that back, It sounds really GAY. I'm off now to drown some puppys and drink lots of special brew.

New shite now arrived at H.Q quarters.

It's got a Griffin badge, it's as dull as a weekend stuck in a lift with a cricket commentator and it needs a couple of fairly minor fixes.

Plus side? Seven seats, pulls a lot better than I thought a 1.6 would do in this lump of thing, it's got the 16V (X16XEL?) engine which I like, mileage seems right and a little bit of graft already has it looking plenty better.

Surprising lack of crayon, snot, sticky sweets and McDonald's food everywhere too, which will save a bit of time when I give it some RED HOT VALLETTING ACSHUN.

Mk1 Zaffy or Sintra?

Bummer! why didn't he let you know it wouldn't start before you set out? The fuel pump is mechanical but you could rig up a leccy one, my Safari has one because it also runs LPG but the manual pump is still there for emergencies. Having said that, check the cause of the fail cos it might be a tank full of jellified four star and/or rust in which case a leccy pump and a line filter would be a useful upgrade.

Handbrake light is staying on all the time

I'd check that it doesn't do double duty as a brake fluid level warning light ;)
