Import laws here are very restrictive. We are focusing on the threats to our safety: hardworking Mexicans, generic prescription drugs, and Japanese crap cars. Terrorists and cocaine are a minor risk in comparison.

I'm a bit sick of it too, and I haven't owned a Japanese car in over a year.I don't understand the Japanese car = boring appliance argument at all, especially considering there are so many even duller European vehicles.

They are funky looking things, in an odd way. And what's not to like about a Wartburg Knight lookalike? If I remeber right they're strictly a 4 seater so a bit small for family duties. Is it based on the Almera running gear and floorpan?

I wouldn't worry about folk slagging Far East motors as boring. Since Autoshiters are trendsetters, perhaps their opinion will help depress second hand values. That way connoisseurs can afford to buy a larger fleet Personally, I think it looks good. Better than another eurobox!

I read the thread on RR and it said they're normally 4WD but the transfer box had gone so it was just front wheel drive. It's not that 4WD is a huge help on one of those, but a worry that the transfer box has failed, shirley?

I was going to make a dash for it this morning, but the fact that's been lowered and changed to 2WD was a killer insurance wise - even with my distinguished motoring career and advanced years it was still £400 for 5000 miles.I suspect it's done more miles than it's showing, hence the duff transfer box and non-original steering wheel. Can't complain at £500 though!

Im the one who's bought it :)Picking it up on Sunday... happy to give y'all a run-down of it if you're interested?Im just gonna use it as a daily hack - rather than some blando-90's-crapola Almera-turd.The guy says he converted it to FWD to make it faster and more economical - how much of that is true I don't know, but £500 for a car with a years tax and 6 months ticket is a bargain in my book.Plus...it is brown
