Just spoke to him and he's waiting on someone to finish and they'll be over nearer 5pm. It's going to be shunting caravans in a field. He wanted to know if it's scrap and I said it wasn't and if it was I'd be breaking it for more money. Which, believe me, I am tempted to do. He wants something they can just drive so I guess look presentable.

I am just done really now and I don't care now if he offers something over £4,000 he can walk away with the keys. And I'll have no more to do with fucking Romainans, fucking dickheads who can't afford road tax, fucking dickheads who want air con in the back of a car regardless of the fact the whole car gets cold with the front air con - and fucking dickheads who think they can get concourse japanese 4x4s' for under £10,000, let alone £5k.

The last OMG tax 4x4 I sold went off to Ukraine. No interest whatsoever from actual UK buyers.

I feel your pain. Best of luck.

Only thing that worries me about wanting a 'shunter' he'll want it for pennies.

He can want it for pennies all he likes, but while I'm incredibly fucking annoyed at this gobshites, if his pennies met close to my last penny he can have it for those pennies.

I would sooner break it for parts than give it away.

What would WeBuyAnyCar.com offer?

If you break it for parts, you'll probably have a lot of people messing you about ,rather than just a few. Can't help wondering if the time has passed for such cars,The towing guys will want 3,5 tonnes capability,so Discovery s and Toauregs and pick ups. Can' t remember the last time I saw one on the road. There was one of the bigger ones at the back of us but that seems to have disappeared. A customer has a similar one down the side of the house, but it hasn't moved for years. No doubt "just needs" and "worth a lot of money" though!Good luck though, you just want that one person........

£2,650 I think. But that's the very first number that was given. Tried another service when I put it on AutoTrader and they initially offered £3,000 but then he came back saying the lowest would be £700 and the highest they could go was £2,200.

Shunter man is coming at 4:30pm.

While I was confident before, I've looked at how my Cheltenham bets are going. Let's just say if I could pick out sticks of glue in a field I'd be a millionaire. But that's not how Cheltenham works, and judging by that my bad luck is in full swing! 😄

Who spends four fucking grand on a 4x4 to push caravans around a farm/field? You can do the job easily for about £300.

If he offers anywhere near the asking I’ll be both amazed and delighted.

I think he may well have been doing that but is sick of them rotting away. Or he's moving them from field to field or collecting them from somewhere so needs something a bit better.

I don't care as long as he gives me anything near what I'm asking.

Seems bizarre. I was going to sell my Freelander to a guy who did the same thing. He said he was only giving up on his previous one because he’d literally snapped it in half! He fucked me about as they all do so it’s now a cube.

The mind boggles.

Just done a job from a fellow who said he was a professional gambler and had high hopes for today. He lived in a shithole and his mum had paid for the machine!

I think it's about 2.4t in weight.

Well Mr.relies-on-the-seller-for-MOT-info turned up and got funny I wouldn't let him drive it without showing me his insurance. Then started to act the bollocks saying it would need welding as the sills look rotten etc. What does he fucking expect from a 20 year old Toyota at that price point that he (apparently) knows about?

Have rang the shunter bloke and we'll see with him.

WTF is wrong with these people?

You know you need insurance to drive a car. You know from the MoT history about corrosion, and it's an old Jap 4x4 anyway. Just another attempt to pull a fast one, innit bruv?

Hope the current bloke comes good.

No word 40mins after arrival.... either @St.Jude is skipping about with £4k in his hand, or he is just finishing up burying the guy in the garden after beating him to death with the owners manual 🤣

I said that I’d get two groups of people interested in this. Our shunter man was in that other group. But seemed legit enough.

Haggled, which I preferred. Settled on £4,200. Transferred to my account (which I immediately took out and put it to another bank!). Signed the car over to his limited company. He’s gone off with it.

So it’s gone. After all that. But a bit anxious about it just because I hate dealing with that group of people. So we’ll see how it goes.

Sorry to be that guy, but it doesn’t make a shit’sworth of difference. If they reverse the payment, then you’ll just be -£4200, regardless of overdraft etc.  They then treat you to unauthorised bank fees too!

(Qualifications - ex wife in retail banking)

Wanna be safe? Hard currency.

Well done nonetheless.

I know. But it’s a nothing account so it goes that way I’m not screwed in terms of day to day living.

I mean it’s one thing to be safe with hard currency but then how am I meant to check over £4k of cash?

It’s a legitimate company, I’m sure it’ll be fine. If not then, well we will come to that.

Had a phone call - “How do you turn the back lights on?”

Said well you put the headlights on and they come on the back. Apparently they’re not coming on. Said that they should if the head lights are on, then I said is everything alright with it and he said yeah he’ll just get someone to sort it tomorrow.

Fucked if know why the lights aren’t coming on but then when am I at the back of it?

Mind is made up anyway. Next car is deffo something I can sell on Motorway or scrap for £300. Not bothering with this fucking nonsense again.

Absolutely - no point putting his back up, but ultimately if you want a car where everything is guaranteed to work then buy new from a dealer.

Pahahaha. You ever had a new car? My Nissan Leaf was at the dealer twice within the first six months. My sister hasn’t seen her Aygo+ for two weeks as the fucking head unit is dead.

Certain cars attract certain people. See classic* Fords for details. A LC will have a million dreamers and endless “Tormac yor droive, sor” types.

Buy a Yaris and you’ll see none of the above - mostly old guys looking for a first car for their daughter and Asians wanting to deliver food in it.

And yes, I fucking love stereotypes. And no, I’m not wrong. 😉

I always think there's something life affirming about a £500 car that you can scrap for £250.Mind you, some on here will tell you it's not got the best engine, the later/earlier models are better, it'll definitely shit the bed, you'll look a failure at life whose wife is being shagged by the bailiff sent round to repossess the furniture..............Oh no, there's not even a full moon and I'm turning into sierraman again!

No. Sorry.

But in buying one, you have far more consumer rights than you do in a private sale. Plus being new, it's much more likely to actually work. That's all.
