Late Brake Show live - quick report

I went to the inaugural Late Brake Show Live event today near Deal. It was ok, It was meant to run until 8pm tonight, but to be honest there wasn't enough to keep me there beyond a 4 hr stay (I got there at 10:30am). May do a more detailed write up, but for now let the pics do the talking.

I do like those new Jimnys.

I'm guessing the Charger and Agro are Johnny's?

That fucked Allegro belongs to a friend of mine. It's been transported quite a long way to be there and I'm not sure why... will be an amazing car when it's done though

He had all his cars (including his wife's Figaro) transported down from Lincolnshire overnight to the arse end of Kent! Quite an undertaking. His Allegro and Beetle were there.

It does seem illogical on the face of things, but people are gonna want to see the projects from the channel.

Even if that means a Figaro that is going to get EV converted at some point in the future, and a knackered Aggro from a barn find video ages ago that was never mentioned aga-yeah it's bloody pointless actually.

Tim and Jonny dug it out of an overgrown lockup in an early episode of the Late Brake Show

It was meant to be a bit of a barn find area (don't Practical Classics do that at the NEC show?).  A borked tractor turned up later and there was something else I forgot to photograph.

Great photos, my favourite vehicle is that k plate mondeo you got a shot of 😆

Best bit of the show was when a lad told me that his family has had an L plate Mondeo GLX from new. Needs a resto apparently.

It’s looks quite a modest event.  Not necessarily a bad thing.

How much was the entry fee?  I take there was food and water available?!

Was that blue Mundano not associated with someone on here, at some point?

£20. Which was steep really in my opinion. I appreciate there were some extensive hosting costs. Still no idea why he didn't hold it in his part of the world as a first try.

One stone baked pizza van (£8!) and one 'down from London' type food van.  Also a bar, which was not insanely priced for parking-on-grass-in-England-in-the-summertime event.

I think if I'd stayed all day I might have had a chat with either Smith or Sniff, but Jonny was running around like a blue arsed fly all day - and trying to film content (interesting to see his pro filming set up - two camera people and what seemed to be a Director making calls on what to film, that can't be cheap. Porter didn't seem to look at any cars at all and mainly seemed to be chatting with the inner circle. I guess he's more used to the Cotswold set than the hoi polloi.

Porter came in his last of the line Defender.

Nice to see an Alpine up close, one of the few modernz I like.

In fact that was an oddity, there were dealer spec Pug 508 wagon, leccy Fiat 500 and Taycan(?) and a brand new RR Ghost with white leather interior. The 'vibe' was all over the place.

Oh, Honda interior is quite cool.

That new Hyundai electric car was there too - Ioniq 5 - that's a big beast in the flesh.

This was the stage set-up (again stolen from Twitter). I did ask a question in the Q&A (not worth repeating here, lol)

Thanks for the write up and inside info!

Was the inner circle ring fenced for Patrons or something and Porter felt obliged to spend his time there?

How many people do you think were there, 500?

I see Acumen transported the cars.  They’ll want at least £1,000 per day for that truck.

Sorry, by inner circle, I meant friends of the show, possibly other TV types.

Nothing against RP, but I think Jonny always comes across as a total car bloke (any car can be interesting to him) whereas Porter is a bit sniffier (pun intended) which I guess why he was happy to be involved in dropping a piano on a Marina.

Richard was very funny in the Q&A though. He's very sharp and extremely confident.

400-500 sounds about right.

Oh another thought, clearly some people have never listened to the Sniff and Smith Podcast - as they were doing some of the inside jokes from that to radio silence from the crowd (though it was cracking me up).

One last post on this, short vid I did of Jonny parking his Charger

Ahh I was there as well, I wondered if anyone else from here went.

Having not been to many open air car shows before, I really enjoyed it. It’s no small undertaking popping a show on, so it seemed good for a beta test event.

The Jimmy De Ville video will be worth a watch. Didn’t know anything about the guy before yesterday.

Yep it’s massive isn’t it. Have to quietly admit this though, it along with the little Honda is one of the first EV’s I find myself wanting.

Never got round to looking at the Mk1 Mondeo. Damn it!

It probably says more about me but I was more excited seeing that after having watched the video on it than I was any of the ‘exotica’.

The clown in the Bedford Rascal listener story in the pod still makes me chuckle a lot.

Yeah, I left before all that, I don't know who Jimmy is! If it had been, say Edd China, I would have probably hung around for that. Did you enter the quiz?

No I stupidly didn’t get a paper despite sitting there on my own like a leper. I think I’d have done alright given one of the questions was which car did the Buckets have in Keeping Up Appearances and what did Michael correct “Cock Piss Partridge” to on Alan’s 800.

@egg I think your car gets a proper mention on the latest Smith and Sniff podcast.

Thanks, that's interesting! It's not up on Youtube yet (where I normally listen to it), so I'll look out for that.
