Double collection thread!

Thanks!

Luckily my wife is away. I was supposed to sell one car and collect one (one-in, one-out) This has not happened. Alternative man-reality is two-in, none-out. I’m dead!

It's nice to see a collection mission starting with a proper breakfast for a change.

Looking forward to finding out how you can drive two cars home at the same time...!

New to me C6 collected from Chevronics. Driven to pre-booked MOT at the body shop which has just finished my long-awaited 480 restoration.

Black pudding?  Yeuch.  🤢

Definitely needs black pudding.  Also add haggis and some lorne/square sausage to the breakfast and you're talking.

Also some mushrooms.  And fried bread.

I'm hungry now.

That is a very tidy looking C6.  I would very much love to have one at some point.  It's just a shame they were never available as an estate.

And… home via a friend’s to show the 480 off a bit. DVLA website for tax was down so drove home SORNed but will sort out later.

C6 drives okay considering it’s been sat for ages. Very brief drive and look about for 5 mins:

- MOT required

- windscreen and passenger front door glass need replaced

- slight wheel wobble at 70mph

- rear drivers side TPMS alerts flat tyre or unmonitored, but that’s not true

- headlight out (please don’t be the expensive ballast!)

- brake light out

- day running lamp out but it’s been modified with some Chinese bulb so not sure if that can be fixed or will need both replaced

- front parking sensors deactivated because they scream if anything comes near them, like a car when waiting at a junction!

- cruise control inoperative

- I’m sure more because it is a C6 but initial observations are good

Avantime demoted from the garage. Poor old bus.

Wow, that 480 is an early one!

Excellent work on the C6.  I really want one, despite how much they terrify me.

Agree on all of the above apart from the black pudding.  A tattie scone rarely goes amiss too.

Yep, there are only x2 of the UK “Launch Cars” left. I used to own the other one, which is now with a friend down on the south coast. This one I found in a garage a few years ago after 20 years of hibernation. It was on the road for a year and a bit before going in for bodywork.

I wouldn’t have gone so far with it if it wasn’t one of these last two D-reg. It was perfectly good enough for another decade of I’d just left it mechanically sorted. But eventually the wheel arches would have needed chopped out.

*THAT's* what I was forgetting!  Yes, definitely.

I used to very much enjoy taking work colleagues up to scotland and watching them turn their nose up at haggis as part of their breakfast.  I really like it.

But.... eggs?

It’s a fair question. Basically vegans don’t eat any animal products— so no eggs, milk or leather. Vegetarians do not eat anything that an animal has directly died to make— eggs and milk are okay for vegetarians. (I’m not sure about leather and vegetarians exactly  but I gave that up too.)

I actually agree with the vegans that eggs and milk are bad but find it hard to make the final leap. Probably just like a meat eater would struggle with not meat at first.

I’ve tried a few times do do the veggy —> vegan upgrade but failed. Maybe one day I will make it!

(to any vegans reading, I know I am an egg eating, milk swilling monster!)

That is possibly the reddest thing I have ever seen.  It looks fantastic.

Those C6 look a fine way to waft about, one day etc.

Never seen a 480 so clean either, well done that man

Thanks all. The real hero in the 480 of much shine is the guy on the left standing behind it in one of the pictures. He has done an amazing job, above and beyond what I ever expected with attention to detail and also making sure his good work lasts.

The C6 is a wonderful wafter. It was a delight to drive it home and experience the great ride again.

I'm a carnivore but even I don't eat leather!  You have to have a limit somewhere!

Did an actual LOL at this comment!

That 480 is lovely. I had a really, really terrible E reg one years ago and although this particular example was flippin awful you could tell that a nice one would be really, really nice.

C6 magically fixed its own headlight today and when I turned up at the garage to fix the other bulbs I found that the nice garage people had done it for me in preparation for Thursday’s MOT test.
