Presumably most of the pics are from a time when you could photograph the police without being beaten to death......

LOL! 'Anyone seen photographing police cars could well be harbouring terrorist intentions, take their details and put it on a database in case they ever decide to take up a job where they might be working with children' etc etc.

I guess the one in my spoting thread was Freds after all 8)

I worked in a police station a while ago as an office worker and shared an office with a few old school bizzies who were near retirement. They used to get dropped off in the police van at night in the winter and do their beat. Basically no car all night! They were all drunk to keep warm.

Maybe I've posted these before, but here are a few Dutch police cars...

I think I'm right in saying the Volvo Amazon was the first non-British car to be used by a UK force.

Here's an old BMW ad from the early 70s too.

Okay, maybe i'm just being simple, but what is the car that has run into the back of the Cav? Is it one of those Fiats that later became a Yugo? (cannae remember what number they are offhand)

That Mexico was one of six or seven that Merseyside Police had.I had an ex Merseyside Plod Escort RS2000 XEM649W.

Often seen on old episodes of Traffic Cop Action Wars. Most 'shite' police car used in the UK in recent times?

Would have been worth more shite points if it had been the older MPi in GE spec 8)

I can just imagine the two portly Garda giving kids a ticking off for inconsequential things while at the same time being completely blind to massive amounts of drunkery, booze driving, wife-beating and preist/boy interfacing* go on in a chaotic scrum behind them

*Other rural irish crime stereotypes are available

Is this not a 'snatch' Land Rover, designed for the streets of Belfast and currently being used with limited effectiveness in Afghanistan...?
