I like the energy saving lightbulbs. They come on almost instantly now, they're easily as bright as the equivalent old bulb, they're not expensive anymore and I like lower electric bills. Besides, they're only a stopgap until LED lights get better. Get fucked, incandescents!

One thing that really gets my goat about this global warming debacle is the attempt to stifle rational debate about the issue. If you dare to question the Wisdom of the collective hand wringers then you are branded some kind of pariah, a "denier". I find this objectionable and offensive.I met David Bellamy who was a guest speaker at a do last year. He has gone from being the warm and cuddly face of science to persona non grata in the media, particularly the BBC, who have banned him from speaking. What sort of state is that for democracy? The website spiked does a lot on this...

If it's all so bad and we're doomed can't they all form some kind of suicide cult - maybe they can make a pact with the Maya-end-of-the-world believers? A couple of billion people less would really make a difference in emissions...

Politicians: any of them ever given a straight, simple answer or actually used the words 'yes' or 'no'?Some squirming going on on QT tonight and it would appear one politician in particular is going out of his way to avoid direct answers.Shouldn't be surprised I suppose.

Strikes me that the politician's favourite response to a direct question they don't like, used plenty by TB and GB is "Now, look...."Mark.

The decorations went up in Liverpool City Centre at the start of this week. It was the 19th of FUCKING October for fuck's sake. It's not even TWO months to go yet. I know it's the recession, but I'm well fucking going elsewhere tommorow to do some shopping. They were blasting out Christmas music in St John's Precinct. It's fucking OCTOBER you capitalist cunts. Can't you wait a frigging month.

Bye bye Royal Mail. Goodbye 50,000 jobs. It's been nice, the greed on both sides has fucked it all for us.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8320971.stm

Incredible isn't it?The Labour party was once a socialist party, for the rights of workers and public ownership of all services. It seems that they have now also sanctioned the private sponsorship of secondary schools too.I am a socailist, there is no-one for me to vote for.

Vince Cable. He seems like a pretty honest guy. Plus a great name.

Some people prefer the traditional light bulb, others prefer the low energy. What is unacceptable is some bunch of eco-fascists telling us what sort of light bulbs we can and can't use. Democracy is more than casting your vote in an election every few years.

Get a grip, it's just a light bulb.

This didn't really make me grumpy, made me laugh more than anything.

Went into the local computer shop to buy a VGA cable for my recently purchased Acorn A3020 computer.

Nerd: Yes?

Me: Hello mate, I'm just after a standard VGA cable.

Nerd: You mean a VGA lead

Me: (laughs) Um, yeah

Just 'cos you know more about computers than most people, it doesn't mean you have to correct everyone on every little detail in a sarcastic voice.

Cable - Lead, you know what I mean you 30 year old virgin.

Same thing in McDonalds a long time ago, I had beefburger corrected to hamburger.Whatev.

Many years ago my mate used to only eat at Mcdonald because he hated beef and they did Hamburgers.

That is the whole point of being a grumpy old man/pedant. :)

You get angry about the really important things, but grumpiness will do for the irritations.

I went into GSF the other day to buy some discs and pads for an astra. The guy interrogates his computer then asks 'what sort of quality are you looking for on the discs?!' What sort of question is that? If I had been quick enough I should have given him flatness and balance tolerances for the machining, and chemical composition/yield strength of the metal used. Sadly though the best I could manage was "erm, 'good' please"

"The worst possible quality, even if it incurs further expense."

God, it would have been worse if I mentioned it was for an old Acorn computer...

Macdonalds........They recently "updated" the Drive-Thru section of my local to work branch. Instead of being able to speak into the little box from my Land Rover, I now have to park about 8 feet from it and get out to shout over the din of my engine as they have reprofiled the corner, and I can't get round in 1 swoop anymore. Wankers. Not only that, they pulled out loads of trees, and laid bark down, which blows about. I enquired as to how they had offset their carbon footprint, you know to replace the perfectly healthy trees............. they shrugged.I now have to park in one of the large spaces and walk in to get my "food" as they have taken to asking me to wait in the specified spaces for my "meal"...until I pointed out there's no rear visibility and there's a crossing next to them, so no, I will wait over there, 100 yards away, you will have to bring it to me. They bloody refused, which is why I go in the shop now.Perhaps the exercise will offset the fact I'm a fat bastard.

I have found that even if you order the most basic meal at McDonalds, they still make you wait for 10 minutes in one of the drive-thru spaces. Fast food.

Simple solution is not to consume the "food" at McDonalds. It tastes like shit anyway.

That sounds like a load of grief for no real benefit. Why not tell them to stick their turd burgers up their McBrownpipe and simply get some grub elsewhere?
