Tomorrow, I'm going to have to weigh in a car that basically has nothing wrong with it. I mean, if I was pushed for a car, I'd drive it. Problem is, I'm not... I have cars coming out of my ears at the moment, and no-one besides the weighbridge seems to be buying, so a slightly* tatty 1.6 escort ghia (mk6, N reg) with febuary test and end of the month tax is going straight in the bin. This makes me grumpy, because it's a waste. I lost count of the times I could have done with a £200 snotter to get me by, but no one wants it, and I can't reasonably take less than the weighbridge would pay. I'll steal lots of bits off it for "future projects" to make myself feel better, I suppose.

 

 

*it looks like it's already been in road wars, then a tramp lived in it for a bit. The tailgate won't open, the arches are rusty, the front bumper is made of bodge and halfords rattle tins. The radio is missing, you can't see the carpet for the mank, the engine rattles and the exhaust blows and bangs. Oh, and it's got Lexus lights. Apart from that, it's mint.

Take the Lexarse lights off for sure Scary, Barries love them, and that model Escrot is firmly in their territory now. Those God-awful lamps are quite pricey when new.

I haven't clicked the link CIH as i'm on my phone but I'm guessing it's the modern Audi thread, It's given me the hump as well, I commented on but for what it's worth Im expecting another keyboard warrior to attack me.

 

That place has really gone down hill recently, and just for the record, That Audi looks bloody awful!

My sincerest apologies. Here I was thinking instead of following the crowd. Silly me. Allow me to correct myself. The metallic paint on the Audi is awesomeness personified. The interior treatment has instantly redeemed burberry, no longer will I associate it with chavs, instead it shall remind me of high class custom modern Audis. The wheels are not in the least gaudy or cheap looking, they're awesomeness itself and I've made a mess of my trousers just thinking about them. The whole symphony in brown is genius and not at all like a pimped out Fedex staff car on steroids.

 

This redeems the entire thread, and the existence of Retro-Rides.

R.R always seems to have half a thread with content, and then the rest with people having to justify their opinion.

Otherwise Reader's Rides and and the for sale bit is very decent and what the forum is all about. General Chat is always a minefield on every forum.

There's a site just like the one you'd like. It's called Autoshite and it's way better than RR. (awaits flamage from RR fanatics).

 

I only go on RR occasionally, some fantastic builds but there's also some proper idiots masquerading as "experts". The muppet trying to tell Gray how to weld was cringeworthy. Gray is by far and away the best welder I've ever known and some lunatic was trying to tell him which mask to buy.

 

I really don't see the point in a car site where people can't say what they think or share facts based on experience without being accused of hatin' and having their threads locked...

o2 Broadband: I emailed them yesterday for a MAC code (going to BT Infinity for my folks house). MAC duly received by email and SMS, with a request that I let them know when I've given it to the new provider. This I duly did this morning, only for the bloke to tell me that I needn't have bothered. Then I get another SMS to tell me to do the same thing, which I did. This time a nice Scouse bird tells me I needn't have bothered. Iv'e just got another 2 SMS, one the same as the last 2, and another asking me to call the SAME number to see if they can't persuade me to stay.

Bear in mind certain companies (BT is sometimes one) don't use all the data inherent in the MAC code correctly; as part of it's utilisation BT should inform O2 of the disconnection but they probably won't, so I'd make sure you give O2 notice to terminate the account if you don't want to (a) wonder why you're still paying for an O2 connection you no longer use and ( have to pay O2 a termination fee once you discover (a).

Interview for a new part time job went well. However, I may have shot myself in the foot.

 

If I say I haven't worked for a year (mainly to cover up the fact I resigned from my last job), if I start a new one and get the tax code reassigned, am I going to get done for tax evasion? Can the tax office tell the new employer when I last worked?

 

FUCK. I've been paying tax but now I've bloody backed myself into a corner, I should have said I had a temp job there and got laid off or something.
